He -knows- history.
It may look messy, sloppy, and like a loss from this side right now...
but the real loss is the Afghan people. Their own failure to step up into their opportunity.
If they weren’t going to fight for it...well ...
20 years of Nation building crumbles in less than a month. The loss rests squarely on the Afghan people’s refusal to embrace and be willing to fight to keep their freedom.
There’s plenty of blame to go around, but the core must rest with those who held and wasted the opportunity. What if every adult refugee had decided to fight, instead of flee?
Afghanistan was never ours to hold.
But a few made a lot of money on those nation building contracts, you can be sure of that. Wars are for making money.

Iran is certainly happy. We had ‘em in a vise and let them out. Granted that was really mostly Obama with some later years Bush in there.
A lot of the blame -— a LOT of it -— goes to her father Dick Cheney. War mongering SOB that, along with his protégé W, got us into that quagmire in the first place with an ill thought out, objectiveless misadventure that took 20 years and lots of lives to lead to an ending that was almost the only one possible. I say almost because I believe Trump found a way out that wasn’t a disaster but Biden tore it up and gave us this instead.
It didn’t help that we snuck out of Bagram in the middle of the night. That probably did not instill any confidence in the rank and file Afghan soldier.
It took 20 years to figure this out about Afghanistan? Even after the same lesson in Vietnam? What are they teaching in the War College, the Command and Staff College? How to shine shoes?
Biden’s weakness begets more weakness.

You expected the Afghans to hold up when we didn’t even exit properly, and they get to face: The Taliban with Pakistan, various Gulf entities, and China’s support?
The bizzarro thing from a rational thought standpoint is the support from many in the Gulf States. This defeat has to further strengthen Iran’s position, unless the Taliban can somehow be co-opted to give Iran a great deal of trouble. I doubt they (the Taliban) are really interested. These people in the Gulf may well in the future rue the day...

Putting her hatred for Trump aside, Trump was working to draw down, no doubt about that. Xiden talks out of both sides of his *ss. He complained that Trump’s negotiations 7 months prior made this happen to Xiden. Like he didn’t see it but his hands were tied and had no way to stop this runaway train? Oh and he told us about 40 days ago, everything was great that was being left behind. Just like Xiden’s hands were tied on keeping Trump’s MX border programs in place? No changes there, right?
I strongly suspect the leftists controlling puppet Xiden wanted an end to the W-Cheney war in Afghanistan b/c of their deep hatred for W and they could claim it as a failure. I don’t know for a fact b/c he was not my senator, but I am willing to bet Senator Xiden actually voted to support the Afghanistan invasion in 2001. This is schadenfreude.
