There are many lessons to learn from the disastrous US pullout from Afghanistan, but there is one that we should take home right now: Failure must be punished.
...
US forces fled Bagram under cover of darkness, with no warning to anyone. (But botched even that, turning off the lights as they left, which gave looters free rein for many hours before Afghan officials showed up.)
...
Our efforts were marked by institutional failure at every level, from the lack of planning at the top to the spooks who told us, last Thursday, that the Afghan army might hold out for more than 90 days (it lasted fewer than 90 hours). These are the same intelligence agencies, by the way, that spent four years promoting the exploded “Russian-collusion” fable.
...
Meanwhile, over the past few months, Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has been jabbering about “white rage” and helping our soldiers master the subtle dialectics of Ibram X. Kendi. We would have been better off if he had read Clausewitz and Sun Tzu, though Milley did inform us that he has read Karl Marx.
This is the biggest foreign failure in most Americans’ lifetimes, and there needs to be an accounting. The normal course of business after government bungling nowadays is that everyone involved tut-tuts a bit, then gets a raise and a promotion, while the government goes back to business as usual.
But in a sane nation, failure would be punished.
To begin with, Milley must resign or be fired. And the same for our triple-masking defense secretary, Lloyd Austin. This was a failure that happened on their watch, and it happened through bad management. We could have pulled out without nearly the level of chaos, confusion and terror.

Milley sure has been quiet lately.
Nobody in DC ever gets fired. Its one big happy family of corruptocrats.
We must rush the capitol.
And free the Jan 6th heroes.
They will probably get a raise instead.
Fire the Commander-in-chief.
The buck stops there…so we were told.
They did their job, create the crisis to bring even more Muslim refugees to this country.
Milley is done.......woke and all!
Them and the commander in sharts.
I agree. They don’t deserve to resign. They all need to be fired, immediately. Every single one of them involved in the decision making process.
We need to get out of Afghanistan, but do it in the orderly manner as Trump had planned, civilians first, military equipment second, troops last. We didn’t just leave behind, say, Some old computer monitors, Common spare parts and supplies, etc. But Humvees, MRAPS, And other things are enemies would love to get their hands on.
They are so woke they slept right through it.
He’s been busy blaming everybody else today. It’s kind fun to see them all pointing the finger at each other.
Especially the CIC.
Firing squad at dawn.
It’s a lot deeper than that. Entire government needs to be disinfected
Hi.
The entire U.S. command structure is a giant Charlie Foxtrot. From the DoJ, to State. From the JCS to all of DoD.
The really bad thing about this whole situation. This is my circus and these are my monkeys.

The SecDefComPoop needs to be charged with malfeasance, misfeasance, and nonfeasance.
General Milley knows he must eventually resign. He has lost the allegiance and support of most of the serving officers and retired officers are openly criticizing him. He cannot explain his orders in this disaster. Why did he abandon in the middle of the night the only secure ,fortified US Air Force base just north of Kabul that was the only secure portal to exit American civilians, resupply the military and allow thier eventualwithdrawal? How could he let all that equipment fall into the hands of the Taliban? Why didn’t he recognize the widespread duplicity and corruption within the Afghan Army , yet still force American troops to risk their lives associating with them. Where was the plan for withdrawal? What will happen to those 6,000 troops just sent to Afghanistan who the truth be told are now at the tender mercies of the Taliban who said they must be out by 9/11? Miltary history is replete with accounts of Armies withdrawing under duress in good order. Did not Milley or his staff study these manuveurs or plan accordingly? There are many more unanswered questions. Sorry but Milley will resign in disgrace in the near future. He should have resigned with honor if he was given unteneable bizarre orders that he knew put his soldiers and Americans at risk.
