WASHINGTON D.C., DC — A game of political chicken between Nancy Pelosi and a group of moderate democrats, including Maine's Jared Golden, is over.
With a 220-212 vote Tuesday afternoon, the House voted to pass a blueprint of the $3.5 trillion infrastructure bill after Democrats agreed to consider it separately from a $1 trillion reconciliation package.
Maine Democratic Congressman Jared Golden and a group of 9 Democrats fought House leadership's push to force both proposals through together by threatening to withhold their votes.
Golden said Congress needed to simply pass the smaller bill, focused on things like roads, bridges, and broadband, before looking at broader issues, before the reconciliation package.
"I have not said that I'm opposed, but I have said that I will not agree to what would essentially be some form of a blank check," Golden said in a press availability Tuesday. "Reconciliation has not been drafted. It hasn't been debated, it hasn't gone through the committee process, and as a result, I don't know what's in it."
Golden said he is welcoming the deal as a victory now that they are no longer tied together.
… House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has committed to voting on the bipartisan package no later than Sept. 27, an attempt to assure lawmakers it won't be left on the sidelines. It's also in keeping with Pelosi's insistence that the two bills move together as a more complete collection of Biden's priorities. Pelosi has set a goal of passing both by Oct. 1.

The 3.5 T reconciliation will be trimmed back, and won’t pass by Oct 1 like Pelosi wants - I may not like the final outcome, but there many twists and turns yet to come; it’s not a done deal, and may still fail in the end - let’s hope so.
I’ve read here that the deal includes about a dozen significant tax increases. Anyone know if that is true?
CYA for the midterms. Total beltway theater. There is no such thing as a moderate Democrat in the Age of Obama.
These are the Assistant Democrats that enabled the latest assault on the USA
Dan Sullivan (R-AK) Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) Mike Crapo (R-ID) Roy Blunt (R-MO) Richard Burr (R-NC) Deb Fischer (R-NE) Lindsey Graham (R-SC) Rob Portman (R-OH) Thom Tillis (R-NC) Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) Jim Risch (R-ID) Chuck Grassley (R-IA) Bill Cassidy (R-LA) Kevin Cramer (R-ND) Roger Wicker (R-MS) Mitch McConnell (R-KY) John Hoeven (R-ND) Susan Collins (R-ME) Mitt Romney (R-UT)
They knew when they were voting for the $1.2 trillion they were enabling the bigger, worse one.
Who cares about the taxes, this has amnesty in it.
We do not recover from that.
Dems don’t want to pass the bill now with the fiasco in Afganistan ongoing. It’s going to heat up there in the run up to August 31st and almost certainly the Taliban will have a triumphalist celebration on September 11th. Dems will want to pass this bill after those events.
This will cost the Dems the House but they will ram it through anyway because they know the GOP will never it roll back.

I live in Maine’s Second Congressional district....Trump country.
Jared Golden, an Afghan war veteran, is no “moderate.”
He is a liberal, and he recently praised Biden’s handling of Afghanistan.
Because of rank choice voting, Golden “won” the election in 2018, even though the Republican incumbent, Bruce Poliquin, received 2200 more votes.
The “winning” candidate had to have 50% plus one vote, and the votes for the two additional candidates in the race.....ringers..... were allocated to Golden after additional rounds of “counting.”
$80 Billion in the bill to hire an additional 87,000 IRS agents.
And that’s just for starters.
“The “winning” candidate had to have 50% plus one vote, and the votes for the two additional candidates in the race.....ringers..... were allocated to Golden after additional rounds of “counting.”
Which of course is exactly the same formula which Murkowski is going to benefit from to get re-elected in Alaska in 2022. The actual Republican in the race will never get to 50% plus 1 in the first round (nor will anyone else), but she’ll have a plurality, just like Poliquin in Maine did in 2018.
Then the “ranked choice” voting system will kick in, and the voters who originally select the Democrat or the Losertarian will have The Cow ranked as their #2 choice and Kelly Tshibaka will lose. This is the first time this scheme is being used in Alaska, but once Democrats see how well this rigged game works they will implement it in more and more states.
They already have something similar in Washington and California, plus ballot harvesting too, which pretty much means that if you didn’t vote in a particular election the Democrat vote counters can simply decide that you meant to vote for their guy and they’ll “harvest” your ballot for you whether you know it or not.
Maine Democratic Congressman Jared Golden will be (presumably*) facing a rematch with Republican Bruce Polliquin in Maine’s 2nd District which voted for Donald Trump 52% to 45% for Joe Biden.
* Other candidates have annouced they are running for the second district.
I’m your neighbor and agree, that ranked-choice crap was and is a scam. Poliquin is running again, hope we get him back in! Golden is a snake in the grass libtard, to be sure.
There are no Moderate DemonicRats! There are only: The Far Left; The Rabid Left; and the truly Insane Left.
