However, I came to learn that what LBJ was doing in that pic was positioning himself to hear better what is being played on the tape recorder in the pic. But it's always brought out to show LBJ's "anguish", although as with everything with the media, it's BS.

Good for you to correct the mistaken stories about the meaning.
There isn’t one that I know of, and probably none exists, but I would like to see what I have seen described in more than one book on LBJ and that era that when the 1966 and especially the Detroit 1967 riots took off at one point LBJ moaned and held his head in his hands and complained to aides “The n-——s, the n-——s, after all I did for them how could they do this to me?”
