Twitter has banned conservative author Alex Berenson due to violations of its COVID-19 misinformation rules, the social media giant confirmed on Sunday.
“The account was permanently suspended for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation rules,” a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement to The Hill.
Berenson said in a Substack post on Saturday that he had been banned from Twitter.
“This was the tweet that did it. Entirely accurate. I can’t wait to hear what a jury will make of this,” he said. “Meantime, guess you’ll be getting more Substacks.”
In a now-deleted tweet, Berenson compared the vaccine to a therapeutic "with a limited window of efficacy and terrible side effect profile." He also questioned vaccine mandates.
“It doesn’t stop infection. Or transmission. Don’t think of it as a vaccine,” Berenson said in his tweet. “Think of it - at best - as a therapeutic with a limited window of efficacy and terrible side effect profile that must be dosed IN ADVANCE OF ILLNESS. And we want to mandate it? Insanity”
At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in July, Berenson drew applause for saying the Biden administration was hoping they could “sucker in” 90 percent of the population to get vaccinated.
President Biden's top medical adviser, Anthony Fauci, later said that it was "horrifying" to see people cheer in support of Berenson's comments at CPAC.
The U.S. currently seeing another wave of COVID infections, as the highly contagious delta variant is hitting the unvaccinated.

But that’s exactly what twatters say when anyone points out breakthrough cases. They say the vaccine was never meant to do more than lesson the severity of the symptoms. Why single out this one person?
Completely unsurprising.
He’s been poking the bear since he was reinstated.
He hasn't been singled out. Plenty were deplatformed before him. Plenty more will be deplatformed after him.
But the Twitter Taliban account still going strong.....
