... Gov. Gavin Newsom claimed Texas middle-class families “pay more taxes than middle-class families in California.”

“Look that up,” he said in a virtual meeting with editorial and opinion writers from the McClatchy chain’s California newspapers. “That’s a fact”

Sometimes the politicians do hang themselves. Here Gov. Newsom is claiming his own set of statistics but it fails the logic test, especially when looking at local taxes, fees and business environment.

As for his obvious crutch of California's low property taxes, how many times has his own Party proposed drastic modifications to the Proposition 13 limitation on property tax increases. A uni-party Legislature is a poor protector here and Newsom knows this!

Outmigration from California is indicated by business relocations AND by choosing other states to build new facilities. Here is a pertinent quote from the article on this;

Occupational licensing regulations, which impose “unnecessary obstacles along the pathway that families have traditionally used to obtain a middle-class lifestyle,” are in effect a tax. The average fee in California, says the Institute for Justice, is $486, a little less than half of what is required in Texas, $253. The Lone Star state also licenses fewer occupations (37) than does California (76), though the gap could be far greater since the Golden State, whose “tangle” of licensing laws is virtually impenetrable, admits it “has no way of knowing how many occupations it licenses.”

The Golden State looks far more like "Fool's Gold" in these days of Democrat Dreams!

While Texas has no income tax local taxes are pretty high. Still they don’t compare to California.

Yeah, my property taxes are higher in Texas, but that is more than offset by the absence of a state income tax. Based on our income, that would add over $10 grand a year to our tax burden.

I grew up in the SF Bay Area, the Army took me down to El Paso in 1976. I've been a naturalized Texan since then.

My sister and her family are moving here from Reno in a couple of years. A large part of it is wanting to be close to family, but they also fell in love with the Lone Star State during their visits over the past two years.

LOL, Sonny Bryan's and Buc'ees contributed mightily.

It does not matter where Gruesome Newsom pulls the numbers from (probably out of his rectal orifice), it does not have to be based on fact or reason. The “middle class” in California now includes resident but undocumented immigrants and virtually all the homeless, who, by definition, pay virtually no taxes at all.

So the average per capita taxes paid by some 50% of the residents of California might just be “lower” than the lower 50% of the LEGAL residents of Texas.

Figures may not lie, but liars can still figure.

Called fornia used to be the envy of the world, then the Democrats and Socialists took over, now look at it. As a matter of fact look at New York City and Chicago as well.

I forgot to add the difference in housing prices. My 2700 SF house is estimated by Zillow at a bit over 320K. I’ve been told that it would go for more than double that in Cali.

My condo is assessed by the town at $280K. In much of Florida...including nice areas like Sarasota...I could buy it for half that. And I wouldn't have to worry about shoveling snow either! And there'd be no state income tax and the sales tax and property taxes I pay would be lower.

And my heating bills would be less ! ;-)

If there will be mail in balloting it goes without saying that the Rats will be able to steal it.

It’s not just the mail-in.

It’s the RCV-enabled voting machines.

There are a number of ways that Rats steal elections...but mail in balloting is the gold standard. Combine that with “no ID required” and Rat Party headquarters knows that this will become a one party nation...like North Korea.

Au contraire.

It’s not the gold standard anymore.

Now, even if every voter is a legal voter, elections can still be stolen using those compromised voting machines.

You have to include the high rate we pay for goods and services because those are so highly taxed as well at the producers and suppliers as well.

LOL, the misconceptions about Texas are hilarious, and they're going to be even worse starting today...first day of constitutional carry.

People elsewhere conflate the entire state with the OK Corral...but we all know that's in Arizona...lol.

HA that’s a fairly high end neighborhood (probably plano) A nice area in a mid size city in Texas $200,000 for a new 4 bedroom in a great school district.

“LOL, Sonny Bryan’s and Buc’ees contributed mightily. “

Florida just got a couple of Buc-ee’s, and I went just to see what the fuss was about.

If Cracker Barrel and Walmart had a love child, it would be Buc-ee’s.

‘Nuff said.
