Yeah, GW II probably never should have been President. But I’m not sure if there was any better option at the time. I wonder what the world would have been like if a competent Republican had been elected on 2000.
President Trump would have done a great job in the circumstances. I’d like to think he’d do what I always thought had to be done immediately after 9/11: drop a nuke on the last know location of OBL and then advise the world: any country harboring OBL or any other terrorists will face the same if the terrorists are not captured, executed or immediately turned over to American troops. This assumes that OBL was in a remote region so there wouldn’t be huge civilian casualties, but a message would be sent. I think that would have ended the War on Terror quickly.
The two main GOP choices in 2000 were Bush and McCain......We were so screwed either way.
