Al-Qaeda joined the Taliban in the group’s offensive on the Panjshir valley on Thursday, Ahmad Massoud’s forces say, according to Al Arabiya sources.
Both sides have suffered casualties during fighting in recent days as the hardline group that has seized most of the country attempts to take the last pocket of resistance to its rule.
Militiamen and remnants of the previous Afghan government gathered in the Panjshir valley after the fall of Kabul on August 15.
The mountainous region is home to Ahmad Massoud, son of commander Ahmad Shah Massoud – a significant figure in resisting the 1979-89 soviet occupation.
Resistance forces have been hiding out in the valley that has been historically difficult to attack due largely to its geography.

Lara Logan is one terrific reporter.
Have they not and always be, one in the same.
Wasn’t it years ago, when the GWOT first started, we were told how the Taliban and Al Queda were brothers in arms?
How only one or two men, from either, could go into a village anywhere in the country and hold it under their thumbs since they were so violent and the villagers knew that any opposition would mean death for everyone?
Have no fear, though. The Taliban, Al Queda and, soon, CornPop-Austin-Milley will soon be joining forces to conquer the phantom ISIS-K. Whatever that is.
This country is run by greedy, malicious fools that will just nod collective heads and do whatever the puppet masters tell them to.
Lemme guess: the Biden Administration will announce that their Afghan allies are working together to take out the last bastion of resistance to the newly recognized government.
Color me shocked.

Americans have the power to intervene and stop the slaughter of our allies. Those who have argued the Afghans should fight for their country should be standing by the Afghans who are fighting & did not surrender. Joe Biden could use that “over the horizon” capability to fix this.

Talibs have blocked humanitarian access to Panjshir, do racial profile of travelers, use military age men of Panjhsir as mine clearance tools walking them on mine fields, have shut phone, electricity & not allow medicine either. People can only carry small amount of cash. 1/2

Nothing would surprise me now. We might even declare the remaining resistance terrorists and take targeting orders from the Taliban to send in our drones.
And the GOP. They should be demanding hearings, talking about impeachment, yea I know - but they should be doing this for the next 1.5 years.
I’m not looking forward to the news in 8 days...
Wait. Didn’t smiley Milley just say “The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley told reporters Wednesday that it is “possible” American forces will coordinate with the Taliban on operations against the terrorist group ISIS-K.”
A terrorist group that hates America working with us to eliminate other terror groups? I cannot believe the person running out military is that naive. But then again, look at his Afghanistan performance.
And the GOP. They should be demanding hearings, talking about impeachment, yea I know - but they should be doing this for the next 1.5 years.
Democrats just murdered 13 of America’s best in Kabul. The GOP should be duking it out Asian parliament style in the well of the House chamber. Apparently, they just can’t be bothered.
She’s been awesome... Keep it up, Lara!
