President Biden spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping Thursday, where they discussed competing national interests — but didn’t get around to discussing the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to a readout from the White House.
The US administration said the leaders of the world’s two preeminent global powers “had a broad, strategic discussion in which they discussed areas where our interests converge, and areas where our interests, values, and perspectives diverge.
“They agreed to engage on both sets of issues openly and straightforwardly,” the White House statement went on. The readout later added that Biden “underscored the United States’ enduring interest in peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and the world and the two leaders discussed the responsibility of both nations to “ensure competition does not veer into conflict.”

China threatened to send their navy ships inside our waters in California, Washington and Oregon. Which, by the way, I’m not afraid of. We do this to Russia and China all the time. We threatened other nations every day, and when they do the same to us we get upset. If we stop threatening others, maybe they will stop threatening us

At this point there are no foreign leaders anywhere who do not realize that Biden is incapable of having a meaningful discussion about anything. He is only capable of discussing tall tales that he made up about himself and Cornpop, his “war hero” son who was either in the Navy or the Army, and other topics that if he goes off prompter he will screw up completely. Few if any foreign leaders actually believe this demented old fool is the legitimate leader of the United States. Their only interest in meeting with him is to see what they can get for pretending to have a discussion with him. What a sad joke...

If you’ve dealt with a violent, abusive adult, or someone who is outright insane, you soon learn to avoid whatever triggers their abusiveness or insanity. Both abusiveness and insanity are control mechanisms to force the outer world to conform with whatever the person’s inner view is. My direct experience with this is, at some point, you simply must address some issue that is in what I’ll call “the response activation corridor.” If you don’t address it then, say, the company will fail, the house will get reposed, the creditors will call in their note, or any number of other issues will result. You will, eventually, be forced to directly or indirectly address whatever the sacred cow issue is. The preference of everyone is not to be the one who addresses the issue as it may result in; a direct physical assault, the withdrawal of the crazy person’s backing, money, support...etc. Nobody wants to be the one in the path of the psychic or physical tornado.
The issues with China are, organ thefts, Taiwan, the “nine dash line,” and, probably a slew of things I can’t recall. Since this behavior works, it will get expanded to cover more and more things; technology embargos, commodity prices, security agreements, etc. Eventually, the US will be paralyzed for fear of getting the rage response. This is why Trump and the “mean Tweets” were so useful. He cut off the ability of the Chinese to use their rage response effectively. Our present government is viewed as extremely weak. You only end up in a war when you have lost your deterrence. Ours is already gone. Expect a war in 5...4...3...

Let’s say some tanker spills some oil. No one is hurt, but a section of coastline gets ruined. Everybody and his brother will want to know how that spill happened. And politicians will demand that those responsible be punished.
China unleashes a virus that has killed millions of people. No one in power seems to care how it happened. And no one in power seems to want to hold China accountable. It’s disgusting. And it invites more incidents like this one.

Uh no, we abide by the UNCLOS and stay outside the internationally recognized 12 nautical mile territorial waters. When we transit a straight (right of navigation, etc), it is in full compliance with UNCLOS.
Your friends in beijing can go piss up a rope with their whining when we transit the nearly 100 mile wide straight between them and the legitimate government of Republic of China.
