I live in the Puget Sound area and this is the first I heard of this case. Funny how these things fly under the radar when they involve lefties.

We have friends who live in Custer and you can literally shag golf balls into Canada from their place (I’ve done this!). They get almost no news about selected topics in their area. It’s like a news blackout.

In Sacramento it’s the same thing. A couple weeks ago there was a military exercise in the area and it got NO coverage at all. Biden visiting California yesterday was practically a secret locally until Sunday night.

This news blackout thing is not new. I was first made aware of it in 1994 when we had a G-7 meeting in Sacramento. Heads of state including Bill Clinton flew in to Sacramento to meet at the State Capitol, US Route 50 was closed for the motorcades, my wife and I happened to see a lot of it and when we expected to see coverage on the news there wasn’t any. At the time I called the Sacramento Be and asked reporter Peter Hecht about it and he said they would not be covering it. End of discussion.

Yet a week or so later my wife gets the Heidelberg newspaper from a relative and the front page was about the G-7 meeting in Sacramento.

Since then I do not trust the media to tell me everything going on locally or anywhere else.

See, sometimes the most evil form of censorship is to ignore a story altogether.

“Officials said the attacks were motivated by opposition to the construction of a natural gas pipeline across British Columbia.”

Umm, so if they don’t build the pipeline, they have to transport more petroleum on trains, which this idiot was attacking...

Real genius we got here.

A shunt causes the signals to go red, restricting train movement.

Got it.

a shunt is used to mirror the
conditions which the track can see when a train is passing
through a powered section. This tells the dispatch office
that something is on the tracks within that section. It is
irrelevant whether that something is a train, equipment,
or workers as dispatch isn’t able to tell the difference.
However, what the shunt does is inform them that
something is on the tracks at that location. This allows
them to divert trains from entering the area, reducing
the danger to equipment and personnel, and preventing
interference with whatever operations may be ongoing.
