University of Massachusetts President Martin Meehan on Monday condemned a threatening e-mail sent recently to a number of Black student groups at the Amherst flagship campus as administrators hired a cybersecurity firm to investigate the source of the anonymous message.
“The blatantly racist e-mails recently sent to Black student organizations at UMass Amherst and other deplorable acts of anti-Black hatred are appalling and disgusting,” Meehan said in a statement. “The messages in no way reflect the true character of the UMass community and we have zero tolerance for such behavior.”...In a statement posted on Facebook and Instagram, the UMass Black Student Union said it was “absolutely appalled” by the anonymous e-mail but “certainly not surprised.”

What an idiot. How quickly will this “scandal” evaporate from the news once it’s found that a black student or group sent the e-mails?
I do save these story details and look for them a year or two later. NOT ONE of them has materialized into a definitive revelation of what comes down to a "hate crime," or the victim was found to be the perp, and the whole thing was swept under the rug.

Hoax by a black student - very likely.
Troll that doesn’t even go to the school - A possibility.
A real, racially motivated action by a white student at the school - Unlikely, but everyone will treat it as such even if/when it’s revealed to be something else.
This will be blared everywhere - but once it’s inevitably proven to be a hoax, the e mails sent by other blacks, the media will deep 6 the story.
Count on it.
Not only is UMass Amherst virulently liberal, but so is the rest of the town where the campus is sited. Virtually certain that this is an “own goal”.

Sometimes, what's decried as a "racist message" turns out to be simply a statement that taxes should be lowered, or that socialism is bad, etc.
I call BS if they neither identify the source email address nor tell us what the allegedly racist message is. There's simply no there there.
I’m going way out on a limb here by predicting this is most likely a hoax. I mean racism by white people is so widespread people have to fake it to get attention on it.
