You obviously have not watched the video, nor listen to the first hand report from a reporter at the scene. The first individual tried to take his rifle from him. Now, I know LA is all weird and $hit, but, in Normalville, the act of trying to take his weapon and the fear it could then be turned on himself, makes it self-defense, the second individual did have a weapon, a skateboard, which he used to try and strike the defendant. Self-defense. Every State has different law regarding self-defense. In my State, there would never have been a trial or arrest.

I think you are talking about a different case. In this case, they were armed, they were coming at him.

BTW, he was first attacked because he used a fire extinguisher to put out a literal dumpster fire that protesters started.
