As of October 14, 2021, 95.4% of people ages 65 years or older have received at least one dose of vaccine and 84.2% are fully vaccinated. More than three-quarters (78.6%) of people ages 18 years or older have received at least one dose of vaccine and 68.1% are fully vaccinated.
Reported Cases: The current 7-day moving average of daily new cases (84,555) decreased 12.5% compared with the previous 7-day moving average (96,666).
New Hospital Admissions: The current 7-day daily average for October 6–October 12, 2021, was 6,659. This is an 8.8% decrease from the prior 7-day average (7,303) from September 29–October 5, 2021.
Deaths: The current 7-day moving average of new deaths (1,241) has decreased 13.4% compared with the previous 7-day moving average (1,434).
Vaccination: As of October 14, 2021, the 7-day average number of administered vaccine doses reported (by date of CDC report) to CDC per day was 841,731, a 11.3% decrease from the previous week. Over 95% of Seniors have received at least one dose, over 84% are fully vaccinated.
Variants: The national proportion of cases attributed to the Delta variant is estimated to be greater than 99%. Nowcast estimates indicate that Delta will continue to be the predominant variant circulating in all 10 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regions.
Test Positivity: The percentage of COVID-19 NAATs (nucleic acid amplification tests) that are positive (percent positivity) (5.7%) has decreased from the previous week (6.1%).

The 7 Day Average of new cases, is now right about half of the peak of the Delta wave - around where the UK's Delta wave plateaued. No sign yet of a plateau in US case case numbers, but the hospitalization curve has inflected a bit, declining slightly slower than had been.

So, can you map this onto last year and say it looks about 140% of last year, in terms of deaths (and cases)?
In Jan/Feb would you expect about 5K deaths per day at the peak?
It’s also not going to get below 1K deaths per day between now and then?
never trust a government agency that has the sole responsibility of protecting us from diseases while it refuses to warn us about the dangers of our president spreading hundreds of thousands of disease carrying invaders across our country during a “global pandemic”...
I was finally once again able to visit my Mom in the nursing home again. I could tell my oldest daughter was a bit nervous being there with my grandson given the COVID cases that was once rampant there.
She relaxed when I explained that grandma has been fully vaccinated, boosted, and was a COVID survivor and is perhaps the most immune person on the planet lol.,
She was surprised that mask weren’t required too. I suppose she assumed I was being my normal rebel self because I’ve made her cringe more than a few times refusing to obey mask rules.
