At first I didn’t like him much at all. What turned my opinion around was his reaction to the other absurd mandate that forbid people from having Thanksgiving gatherings. He went public and said not to bother calling and reporting on neighbors. He made it clear his deputies would not be answering those calls. Then he cleaned up the Venice beach area of the hundreds of homeless people camped out there, when the LAPD refused to do anything about it.
Good for him!
Yea, for L.A., given its current state of politicians and voters, it’s amazing that this guy is in office.
Alex is a life-long Democrat, but with low-key and small l libertarian leanings. But, he was the outsider candidate to replace Leroy Baca, a lifelong “Republican” and liberal flack. The Democrat power base in LA have had Alex in their sights from the moment he declared his candidacy, but he’s turning out to be a tougher nut to crack than anyone had anticipated.
At this point, he’s showing better political instincts than any of the elected clowns on the Board of Supervisors, and watching them run around in circles with their hands up in the air is a glorious sight to behold!
