FSA actually does a lot for midwest corn/beans farmers. I know a couple. Having to drive to the state capitol to talk to an FSA loan officer is going to be a real pain for them.

“Does a lot for farmers” — as in shower them with money? What else does FedGov do for farming?

My Mom was a school teacher before marriage and an FSA employee after she married my Dad and they relocated to South Dakota. One of her jobs was to drive around farms in the area (1949-1951) and train farmers wives in proper nutrition, prenatal care and the like.

Believe it or not, there was a serious need for these type of workers back in the day. Mom didn't even look for the job; they recruited her. She had the education, but couldn't drive. They gave her a three day training course and turned her loose.

That was a few years ago when public service meant you were supposed to serve the public, not that the public was supposed to serve you.
