You nailed it. My grandparents arrived quite poor. Oma worked cleaning tenements in Brooklyn. Within seven years, my Opa had built his own house in Westchester County and they moved up to Thornwood. I’ve got all the original paperwork from his purchasing the land, designing the house and building it. He was a brilliant mechanical designer and designed elevators for a living.
All without a single hand-out. The pride of immigrants then was so well earned.
Coming from Germany just nine years after the 1918 Armistice to WW I, they were not particularly welcomed in Brooklyn. They made sure my dad and his brother and sister spoke English and because Americans.
It’s such a common story from that era, isn’t it? Too bad we’ve lost so much of that and have people storming the southern border just thinking they can waltz right in — and the uniparty making it all happen.
Nice story. Thank you for posting.
My G-folks came from Norway and Germany. Both worked their asses off and prospered in their new home.
They came to this Country with pennies in their pockets and made something of themselves without receiving a hand-out.

Pls show any evidence that might back your opinion.
Sears also was the national chairperson for Black Americans to Re-Elect President Trump.
Also, tell us what you have done?
The ‘cure’ for Stacy Abrams? These two women are not even in the same ballpark. Winsome is so far superior to the racist Stacy Tank.
What I have I done? I don't want to post that on a public forum. I am working on methods of change that do NOT depend on voting in fraudulent elections. The good kind of what Zerobama called "community organizing."
