DENVER — A North Dakota-based organization representing Native Americans sued Colorado this week for a measure banning American Indian school mascots which was passed last year amid a nationwide push for racial justice following George Floyd’s murder in Minneapolis.
The lawsuit by the nonprofit Native American Guardian’s Association was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court...
...The suit argues that the complete erasure of Native American imagery is not beneficial and that the use of positive and respectful Native American symbols and mascots in schools honors the group, helps neutralize offensive stereotypes and teaches the public about Native American history. ...

These namings were part of a plan to keep the History of the Indian Nations alive. They were well intended and in no way derogatory. That a campaign to stop the use of the names would arise...I’m not sure why. Just plain dumb.
White-knighting Liberals doing what is *clearly* best for minorities.

Delicious!
This week… a spark.. Black Lives Matter is protesting vax mandates and native Americans are embracing a historical remembrance. Does that mean we can get the statues of our founders back?
This confirms… we have more in common than the leftists like. Their divide and enslave strategy may be ending.
Jan 6 likewise confirms, the globalists fear a United America more than anything. We remind the world of truth in unity. Although we disagree on some things, our fundamental and traditional American values are still alive.
Yes it is. When I was in college, we used to sing “we’re the fighting Sioux from North Dakota U.” Then PC took over, and now UND is the fighting Hawks. I don’t care what the liberals say, we will always be the SIOUX. Screw them. 😀
Sounds like they will win
My elementary school was The Crusaders.
Years later my college was The Crusaders.
All gone, now.
Perhaps I needn’t say it, but they get no $$$ from me.
The org that won’t stand up for itself against specious arguments has forfeited its heritage to the jackals of the streets.
The rat 🐀 bastards don’t even ask me for money anymore.
No, no, no....
I argued for years that if you want to make the Native Americans as irrelevant as the gods of Rome, just erase their everyday use in culture....
To be fair, the Native Americans weren’t the ones who took issue with the mascots; not the vast majority. It was White liberals who did that.
Should I be insulted every time I see a woman in a dirndl on a beer bottle? How ridiculous would that be?
This law does not make sense. Unless you accept that the white, liberal racists are trying to expunge any trace of Natives from Colorado.
People are proud of their heritage. What is wrong with Braves? Why purging that beautiful Indian girl from Land O Lakes butter?
Is it more offensive to have Indian mascots or to not have Indian mascots?
They did it so they’re not offended. Hope folks start to realize what the white liberal believes all minorities are...not intelligent enough to think for themselves, in other words, inferior.
Absolutely. It was a show of respect for the “fighting spirit and bravery”.
The white wokie crybaby activists told the Natives they should be offended, White wokies championed the cause as “stewards” without asking the Natives if it was even a problem or not.
They created an issue and a cause that did not exist. Left extremist activists perpetually have to have a cause, and when they can’t find a real cause they invent one and give themselves stewardship.
“To be fair, the Native Americans weren’t the ones who took issue with the mascots; not the vast majority. It was White liberals who did that.”
Yep, they sure did.
A number of military hardware items have native American names like Tomahawk missile and Apache helicopter. Curious that the Brandon admin hasn’t moved on those yet.
I’ve worked with numerous Indians.
I was on a job and asked the guy what Indian tribe he was with.
My client corrected me “You mean ‘Native Americans’”
I looked at the Indian and said “What do you call yourself?”
“I’m an Indian.”
We then had a very interesting discussion about the various tribes. He said that the various tribal names were given by white men. The Indians went by some tribal name (which I have forgotten - and the Indian said that I would forget!) that meant “the People”. The bear was one tribe, the eagle another, and then “the People”.
“Huh? So you were all one tribe!?”
“Sort of - “the People”. But there were obviously different groups of Indians. It’s not like we would raid and take slaves from our own people - but we didn’t have the formal names that the white man gave us.”
