Mystery novels notwithstanding, as a general rule a murder doesn’t get solved if someone doesn’t snitch, or in more contemporary cases if it wasn’t caught on video.

25 years to life possible for a 74-year-old defendant? I suppose he could get “time off for good behavior” so the 25 years could be less than actually 25 years, but 25 years from now he will be 99 years old, so a life sentence could not be much longer.
