Why bother even excerpting & linking when the rest of the story is behind a paywall?

an exception in the poorly-worded statute allows 16- and 17-year-olds to carry long guns in public.

It is not poorly worded, it is so simple that even this humble accountant reading it found it perfectly clear.

I don't understand why this charge was even allowed.

Rittenhouse was 17 when he defended himself against three
attackers.

“Rittenhouse was 17 when he killed two people and wounded a
third during protests in Kenosha in August 2020. He testified
he feared for his own life in each instance.”

“unless the state proved the teen’s AR-15-style rifle had an unlawfully ‘SHORT BARREL’, he can’t be convicted of being a minor in possession of a firearm.”

It was a standard common AR-15, the gun charge will be thrown out.

The jury should find Kyle innocent of all charges even if they use jury nullidication. We have to many worthless laws on the books which are specifically designed to make innocent people guilty.

I fear the judge is now compromised by threats from the mob, thus potentially now allowing lesser charges to be considered. That would insure Kyle goes to prison for something. Judge doesnt realize it’s never enough for leftists.
