Who holds those accountable who count the votes? Unless a voter can audit his own vote, i.e. see it tallied among the other votes, we are just playing a shell game. Every election board in the country should be able to demonstrate a mechanism whereby a voter can be virtually assured his vote was counted exactly as cast. “Trust us” is no longer a legitimate request.

I like your thinking. I have two residences in two states. I can legally vote in one, not the other. I have no confidence that my vote was counted once, and only once, consistent with my will.

There has been much water under the bridge, including We the People suffering too many thinly-veiled or even naked betrayals in the past two years, for state and federal government and their corporatist collaborators in industry and among the professional classes (including the vast majority of MDs and pharmacists, lawyers gave up the ghost long ago) for us to continue to give those we elect to office the benefit of any doubt, anymore. We must allow older, more foundational, U.S. traditions to “re-predominate”, such as, for example, those geared toward ensuring we retain the makings of, and encourage in all good will the individuals who would constitute, a well-regulated militia, ready to form up under local or county authority should the need arise.
