U.K. Power Prices Soar Above £2,000 on Low Winds

Some coal and gas power stations in Britain were paid double the price of exchange-traded electricity to help plug a gap left by a drop in wind generation on Monday.

Britain is set to end the use of coal within three years and make power generation free of fossil fuel by 2035. But for now it falls back on high-emission coal when wind drops or demand increases. Wind generation on Monday was meeting just 6% of total demand, National Grid data show, while gas contributed 55% and coal 2%.

It’s Finally Getting Cold and Europe Doesn’t Have Enough Gas

U.K. gas prices are more than three times higher than at the start of the year, as imports from Russia to Europe slowed, and periods with low wind will only increase dependence on the fuel. In the day-ahead power auction, the hourly contract rose to the second-highest on record while the average price for Monday was the highest since Sept. 14.

A strained power situation in the rest of Europe is also limiting export capacity to the U.K. French day-ahead power prices rose as a strike lowered output on Monday, while prices in Germany increased to the highest level since Oct. 6.

Oh no, now the Brits need to burn more coal, to get “human-caused climate change” to create the windstorms that will power their turbines!

This is the kind of mind-boggling senseless stuff you read when society is run by moronic, insane and/or evil people.

They're literally ruining societies at this point, and taking everyone with them.

Yep, no matter who you are, that is funny.

Low winds... bwahahahahahaha...

Just how brain damaged do you have to be to run off a cliff chasing after the green ideologues? Have fun freezing knowing that your death will ostensibly help save the planet, because only YOU can control weather!

Two coal-fired units at Uniper SE’s Ratcliffe station got more than 3,200 pounds ($4,295) a megawatt-hour while four gas units received 3,500 pounds.

£3,500/MWh is $4.6977 per kWh, vs. a U.S. national average of $0.11. At that rate, the average American residential electrical bill would be $2,739, assuming 583 kWh per month, vs. the current average of $64.

Centralized green energy (done by the power utility or the state) sucks, especially if it's mandated forcing a square peg into a round hole.

But decentralized green energy (me putting solar panels onto my own house) seems to do fine. At least if the goal is to minimize costs I pay the utility.

If the goal is to stop the Current Warming Trend, reduce how much China pollutes, or make one feel better lining up Al Gore's and Elon Musk's carbon credits pockets, then green energy sucks.

It’s Finally Getting Cold and Europe Doesn’t Have Enough Gas

FAKE NEWS

The religion of Global Warming is Absolute, and it will NEVER get Cold again thanks to Global Warming.

If you think it is a little cold in your house, even though it flies in the face of Global Warming Religious Doctrine, Order a 300lb block of DRY ICE and put it in your living room, the dissipating CO2 according to SCIENCE will cause a Greenhouse Effect in your home and HEAT IT UP, so much so you will probably have to open the windows...

Unbelievable. WHAT, exactly, do they think is going to replace the last coal plant they shut down in 2024? More wind? Yeah, that's the ticket. Tens of thousands more windmills sitting idle.

It is impossible to supply the USA without fossil fuels. And eliminating them as a source at this point is absolutely stupid.

Plenty of Natural Gas her in the NE....and the politicians kill it. Just plain dumb.

Hah. Pajamajan, I am STILL raging against our Texas Govenor.

My beloved husband and my self slept in our car last Feb because we could not find a place to rent. And I started at the TOP END of the pricing...... figured the lower ends would already be taken. We couldn’t find anything.

The blessing for us.....we had just purchased a Venue in Jan. I can attest to the comfort of the venue if you have to sleep in one as the heating is great and the seats are go back. LOL

Even our 2 pooches were content in the back seat. LOL We weren’t the only ones having to do it that way, either.

And even more disgusting....despite the news saying all the black-outs were on a rotating basis....that was just plain lying shit....the streets one block over never lost electricity. And I spoke with too many once I was out and about that experienced no electricity for days.....

Okay. I need to calm down.

P.S. Just this morning I made sure to purchase Handwarmers that last for 18 hours. A lot of packs. And I’m going to pick up more. They stay good for at least a year and I plan on using them.

We have a cord of wood cut and stacked and have already paid for another 1/2 cord. Not going to trust anyone except the Lord GOD and following His instructions to be prepared and not be a sloth.
