I began to really look around to try and figure out who was all actually there that day. There were no Black folks — at all.
There were some, but they were so rare that I could spend 5 or 10 minutes people-watching, actively looking, and maybe find one Black person. In fact, it wasn’t until late in the day that I saw a whole family.
Clearly, something had happened: We were all needed elsewhere for the culture, and I had missed the memo.
This attendance disparity was also new to me. I could swear Black folks liked Disneyland as much as anyone else. Every member of my family used to go whenever there was enough money and, while we were there, we would meet other Black families from all over the country. At that age, I never noticed exactly how many Black folks were there, but it never felt like none. Even in high school —where race became very noticeable to me as my entire school was white and Asian — I would notice all the Black people at Disneyland.

Well, there are 600,000 Black families with incomes over $200,000 - surely they can afford to go. Maybe they don’t like wokeness?

Data source link, please.
I hate looking at anything thru the racial lens, had to stop reading.
Disney Corp is money grubbing but maybe it’s not all bad after all. Six Flags in PG County, MD is way better because of all the blacks who go there, lol.
So what if the posted author couldn’t find many ‘black folk’?
Was he there, on an assignment from The U.S. Census Bureau?
Should this be an example of present-day newspaper literature, I am quite sure it would sell by the pound, at the dock fish market, where it would make excellent fish wrap/ bird cage liner.
Actually, I believe he’s partially right.
But rather than segregate by ethnic or racial makeups, they’re trying to bring back the upper class/lower class societies that have existed throughout the majority of human history.
The middle class is s-o-o hard to control.
I clicked through thinking it was going to be a legit criticism of new Disneyland pricing and park admissions policies. I got an eyeful of the communist manifesto and critical race theory instead.
Rod Benson is a black “I hate whitey” columnist for SF Gate. That’s all he writes. black, blm, whitey is racist etc. You know the drill.
The POS ALWAYS promotes RIOTS.
Why doesn’t he just admit he thinks the fee should be free to
help cover reparations?
“There were no Black folks — at all.”
Not Disney’s fault. Are they supposed to hand out free vacation packages to black people. That would in fact be racist.
But he’s right about Disney’s gouging. I started going to Disneyland in the 50s. The last time was the 90s and I was disgusted at the insane prices. Never went again. And since Disney is now a main purveyor of LGBTQ on all media they can KMA.
