Kyle Rittenhouse’s Legal Troubles May Be Far From Over Despite Acquittal, Former Assistant US Attorney Warns

Former U.S. assistant attorney Neama Rahmani said there is “no question” that Kyle Rittenhouse will face civil lawsuits from the families of the people he killed within a matter of months or even weeks.

A jury acquitted Rittenhouse on Friday of all charges related to the killings of Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber. Rittenhouse testified at his criminal trial that he killed Rosenbaum and Huber in self-defense during the Kenosha riots in August 2020.

Rahmani likened Rittenhouse’s legal situation to that of OJ Simpson, who was found civilly liable for the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman and ordered to pay $33.5 million in damages despite being acquitted in an earlier criminal trial for their deaths.

“Rittenhouse may be happy right now, but he still may be sued by the victim’s families, and he may lose that civil case,” Rahmani said.

MAY lose. Yeah, the court disclosures should be interesting on all 3 of the criminals that tried to assualt and kill Kyle. Thinking a counter suit would be in the offing. Just keep the criminal court records handy.

It is not untrue, but this guy appears to be a slip-and-fall lawyer.

Represented the likes of Johnny Manziel.

Ugh.

Baaaloney. She's bluffing, and probably is intended to be a shot across the bow anticipating Kyle may sue Biden.

The guy was declared by law as not guilty. In addition, I question whether these families really want the crimes and pedophilia of their deceased family raked through the media.

And he will have a cross complaint against the individuals or their estates for the assaults against him.

It should be a crime punishable by a slow painful death to sue a person civilly who has been acquitted of the associated criminal action. This is double jeopardy.

Personally I'm glad the Goldmans weren't able to collect much from O J. The prosecution screwed up and that should have been that.

As others correctly said

OJ was guilty.

KYLE IS INNOCENT.

Any judgments against him will be chump change . . . he’ll be able to pay them out of his sock drawer after suing the MSM and Pedo Joey . . .

OJ Simpson, who was found civilly liable for the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman

Bad example, OJ was guilty.

I would think that if anyone would have a civil case it would be Kyle Rittenhouse. After all each one of those he shot had accosted him forcing him to take action. They, in fact caused their own death or injury. They were the bad actors.

“Rahmani likened Rittenhouse’s legal situation to that of OJ Simpson...”

A really pi$$ poor analogy.

Actually, Kyle has a better chance of recovering a civil judgement against the estate of Rosenbaum, the first guy who was a predator and chased and wielded a gun against him than the other way around.

Hey, those young men were "turning their lives around". Besides, such families forget all about reputation when they get the scent of moolah.

Comparing the Rittenhouse case to the Simpson case is like comparing chocolate cake to cow manure. A civil suite against Rittenhouse will never fly.

Kyle will have to counter-sue those families because they failed to raise decent citizens.

All his lawyers have to do is submit the testimony of his assailants in his response to their suit. The jury acquitted him based on their own testimony. How can he be charged with violating the civil rights of the people who were found to have been trying to kill him?

Rittenhouse went to great lengths to create distance from his attackers.
His attackers made deliberate effort to close distance with an armed child.
Kyle’s options presented him by his attackers, 4 (!) times, was “shoot or die”.
Each had ample opportunity & warning to disengage, but instead choose to deny Kyle that option.

Rittenhouse will win every counter-suit.
