OSLO, Dec 3 (Reuters) - At least 13 people in Oslo have been infected with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus following a corporate Christmas party described as a "super spreader event", and their numbers could rise to over 60 cases, authorities said on Friday.
The outbreak took place at a Christmas party on Nov. 26 organised by renewable energy company Scatec , which has operations in South Africa where the variant was first detected.
"This party has been a super spreader event," Preben Aavitsland, a senior physician at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, told Reuters by email.
"Our working hypothesis is that at least half of the 120 participants were infected with the Omicron variant during the party. This makes this, for now, the largest Omicron outbreak outside South Africa."
Aside from the people infected at the party, Aavitsland said, two people living on the country's west coast and two people in quarantine at Oslo airport have been confirmed as carrying the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The outbreak led the Norwegian government to reintroduce some nationwide restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19.

It looks likely the transmission information suggested by the mutations is proving out. It will overwhelm Delta, regardless of either vax or natural immunity. Those mutations are structured to defeat immunity, from whatever source.
The issue of serious disease can’t be assessed by reports of mild symptoms out of South Africa because they have one of the youngest populations on the planet. All their samples are university student age.
A 68 year old woman in NY went symptomatic Wednesday. No further reports from her so far.
They’re also coming for the children; a story posted earlier today mentioned that in SA it is children 5 and under who are (supposedly) most commonly affected - JUST as they are getting ready to roll out vaccines for that age group.
Prior infection doesn’t help much with omicron it has enough mutation to evade the gen one and two antibodies. This bug really should be classed as Covid 21 a totally new bug. It also is not related to beta, Delta or any other variant it is directly related to the original strain which seems impossible since the original strain was virtually extinct in the wild once Delta took over the world. How this strain got its direct lineage to the original strain while not being related to the other variants is a mystery. It would make sense if omicron was cooked up in the lab from the original strain and let out world wide it also appeared all over all at once again unlike the other variants.

Another “rare” “breakthrough case.” Well, OK, 60 “breakthrough cases”, but did we mention how rare this is?
Could there possibly be anyone who still takes this nonsense seriously? They’re trying so hard to keep breathing life into the panic, while working furiously at hiding the ineffectiveness and even outright danger of the “vaccines.” The “rare breakthrough case” talking point has become so ludicrous that they’ve gone full Baghdad Bob on the matter.
