Sheriff's Office blasts prosecutor for parents of Oxford shooting suspect being on the lam

Oakland County sheriff officials blamed the county prosecutor Friday for the parents of the suspect in the Oxford High School mass shooting being on the lam.

"In my entire 44-year career, I have never, ever seen a prosecutor announce charges in a major case without the suspect being in custody first," Oakland Undersheriff Mike McCabe told the Free Press.

Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer speak to the media about the Oxford High School shooting.

"We don't let people turn themselves in," he said. "When a warrant is authorized by a judge, we go and get them."

The tragic and deadly shooting spree at Oxford High School is highlighting divisions between county offices headed by Sheriff Michael Bouchard, a Republican, and Prosecuting Attorney Karen McDonald, a Democrat.

McDonald said on CNN Friday that she was in constant communication with sheriff's officials, but as far as the couple fleeing, "it wasn't on anyone's radar that this was even a concern."

The Soros funded social justice warrior Karen Mcdonald was grandstanding for political purposes.

And she should be prosecuted for over charging the parents and using the power of her office to punish those who committed no crime.

Because of her political beliefs and ambitions.

Prostituting Attorney Karen McDonald is no different than Thomas Binger and James Kraus.

prosec-scum.

She is trying to take the “Worst Prosecutor of the Year” award away from Binger.

She seemed not ready for primetime. She seemed disorganized, scratching her face & ear, looking ruffled. It was bizarre watching her.

I think she’s undercharging them, personally. But if they’d been the right color or political persuasion, she probably wouldn’t have charged them at all, so I guess even charging them is a step in the right direction.

Be that as it may, she was utterly stupid not to have the parents in custody first. I was just glad they found them without anyone else getting hurt, because they sound as nutty as their son. The mom (step-mother, actually) sounds particularly out of touch with reality.

It really depends on her strategy. If charges are announced and the parents flee, that is an admission of guilt in the court of public opinion.

In fact a much longer, very highly publicized, period of hiding would have served the prosecution purpose much better. I think this will ultimately be settled with a plea bargain, but their chances for a very small penalty just evaporated.

Essentially they bought the gun legally, and there may not be strong secure storage laws.

While I think they are morally guilty as sin of being accomplices, it will be legally difficult to pin much on them.

Why did the parents go on the run? I don’t get it.

Well, there is her post a couple of days before the killings that she had had a “mom and son day” at the range while the kid tried out his “Xmas present.” The father had only bought the gun about four days earlier, IIRC, and they didn’t just store it carelessly, they gave it to him.

Talk about a wicked stepmother!

Indeed they do.

We are in a civil war, folks and lawfare is the preferred weapon by the leftist democrats in this war so far. However, property destruction and murder by antifa, the democrat party’s paramilitary wing, is also being used to keep people in fear.

Where the parents arrested for having their gun stolen by their kid?

I dont understand the context of what’s going on with this inquiry.

Does Michigan have weapons storage laws?
Is Michigan liable for not having weapons storage laws? Is Michigan legally scrambling right now?

But when a state government does not allow its lawful citizens to carry their weapons with them without some extraneous process then the weps are always going to be within grasp of a child whether it’s in the safe or not.

If you have a safe and a garage with a grinder in it your kid will get into that safe in about 38 seconds.

Constitutional carry with the private sector determining what patronage carry in their private places of business.

Envisioning this, a demand for security inside businesses would increase as well.

Yes, MI has storage laws.

But I bet proving that case would be hard to do.

By fleeing the parents just made it easy for the DA.

Note to the sheriff: There was method to the DA’s madness
