New details have emerged about the days and hours leading up to a deadly shooting at a Michigan high school. Officials said on the day of the shooting, the parents of suspect Ethan Crumbley, came to the school to meet with teachers about multiple behavioral problems the 15-year-old had.
According to Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard, two separate teachers brought up concerns over Crumbley’s behavior in the classroom. This occured once on Monday and again on Tuesday, which was the day of the massacre.
“We have since learned that the schools did have contact with the student the day before and the day of the shooting for behavior in the classroom that they felt was concerning,” said Bouchard.

A million bucks bail for the Parents, and an announcement of Charges Before the accused were in custody.
I wonder what extents they’ll go to to drag PDJT into this.
Oh they already have exposed that the parents were Trumpers. At least on social media.
Great screen name btw.
So when does Chicago start doing this? Or New York? Or California? etc.
They're White, Trump's White.
The ones who didn't search the kid's backpack and locker when they had a chance?
Asking for a friend.
Some school administrators are also being charged for having allowed the kid to remain in the classroom after his parents laughed it off and refused to take him home. They’d been given 48 hours to have him mentally evaluated, so the school should never have let them parents leave without him or without searching his knapsack.
However, it’s gotten very hard to demand that children be thrown out of a classroom, so the school may not have had much choice. Those laws need to be changed.
But the parents knew about this and I think they should have been charged as material accessories to murder. They supplied him with the gun even though they knew he was crazy. He didn’t get it out of a poorly locked safe, they had given it to him as an “xmas” present.
I think the real nutcase is the mom (step-mother, actually) .
She reminds me of the Sandy Hook mom, who bought the guns for her clearly disturbed son. IIRC, she was “homeschooling’ after the school said they couldn’t deal with him anymore and she wouldn’t put him into a special program. She was the first one he shot and killed, and then he went on to the school.
The kid in MI was also crazy. But the parents, especially the stepmother. permitted and even enabled all of this. They deserve the most severe charges possible.
Well they DID try to run after they said they’d turn themselves in.
I like how this story gets lots and lots of play but everyone’s forgotten Waukesha... and Afghanistan...
So they didn’t kill anyone and got 1 million bail, and the black kid that shot 3 people got 75k bail?
Seems fair.
As soon as they can exclude black parents that fail to notify authorities of their kids membership in the Crips or Bloods since they were 10 years old.
The "Snitches Get Stitches" Waiver.
We’ll be seeing plenty of evidence of these parents scumbaggery and enabling the kid.
Yep, however the Prosecutor is deviating widely from standard proceedure, signaling a political component is part of THIS case.
From the article: Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard, heading the investigation said he was blindsided Friday, when the county prosecutor held a news conference announcing charges against the suspect’s parents.
“I’ve been sheriff for 21 years and I’ve never had anyone have a press conference announcing charges before we had the opportunity to have somebody in custody.”
Possibly the purpose was to frighten them into running for the publicity.
“The ones who didn’t search the kid’s backpack and locker when they had a chance?”
Are there any sane folks out there who DON'T believe these parents are guilty of facilitating this mass murder by their squirrely kid?
I have two young teenage kids right now and they have their own .22s for when we go to the range together - but those rifles stay in my safe 24/7 until we're going to the range and nobody handles those weapons without first going through the "ensuring the weapon is safe" drill and maintains proper weapons handling at all times.
Well, to be charged with being accessory to a crime, you have to know that the person you’re (say) providing a gun to plans to commit a crime. There’s been exactly zero evidence given that the parents had any idea that the kid intended harm, and frankly, that sounds unlikely to ever be shown.
The idea behind these charges are that the parents were reckless in providing the firearm to the kid because they knew, or ‘should have known’ that he was a danger to himself or others. But, making the state’s case more difficult, Michigan does not have a “safe storage law” (eg California) that explicitly criminalizes storing a firearm in such a way that a minor gains access to it. Expanding negligence as the DA did here, to all appearances entirely as a political gesture is a road that we really don’t want to go down, IMHO.
For sure the parents should, and will, face civil negligence, but this political grandstanding is not heading in a positive direction by any stretch of the imagination.
They’re going to have everyone in ghettos in jail if they’re going to start jailing parents of all shooters.
Too bad for them it wasn’t in Milwaukee - they’d only have a $1000 bond to deal with...
Some of the folks on this thread are not actually discussing that.
I am currently discussing the probability that this is a Soviet style Show Trial Prosecution, which can take place regardless of the innocence or guilt of the accused, and with or without evidence.
There was a warrant out for their arrest and that would be public information. You need charges for a warrant to be issued. Once in custody, they get arraigned on those charges that the warrant was based on, plus any other charges the DA may have added. So there was nothing unusual about this.
