Alabama has another Heisman Trophy winner.
Crimson Tide QB Bryce Young was unsurprisingly named the 2021 Heisman winner on Saturday. Young entered the ceremony as a massive favorite after his performance in the SEC championship game. He was a finalist for the award along with Pitt QB Kenny Pickett, Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud and Michigan DL Aidan Hutchinson.
Hutchinson finished second ahead of Pickett and Stroud. Young got 684 first-place votes had more than eight times as many votes for the top spot than Hutchinson.
Young is 314-of-462 passing for 4,322 yards and 43 TDs with just four interceptions through 12 games this season. Alabama is the top seed in the College Football Playoff and plays Cincinnati on New Year’s Eve in the Cotton Bowl.
Young — the first Alabama QB to win the Heisman Trophy — was great in the SEC title game as he threw for 421 yards and three touchdowns in Alabama’s 41-24 win over Georgia. That win knocked the Bulldogs from the unbeaten ranks and cemented Alabama’s spot in the playoff.
His SEC title game performance came a week after Young rebounded from a poor performance against Auburn to lead Alabama to a comeback victory. Alabama drove 97 yards for a game-tying touchdown in the final minutes of regulation on the way to a 24-22 win over Auburn in four overtimes. Young and Alabama’s offense had been out of sync all afternoon but picked apart Auburn’s defense on the final drive of the fourth quarter to get the game to overtime.
Young set the Alabama single-game passing record on Nov. 20 with 559 yards and five touchdowns against Arkansas. That was his second consecutive game with five touchdown passes after he was 21-of-23 for 270 yards in an easy day’s work

WLM burning, looting and rioting tonight because a white guy didn't win.
Oklahoma is joining them. Best conference. Best teams.
In any given year, there’s about a 75% chance that the Heisman winner will be a QB from a highly ranked team. The other 25% is split between WRs and RBs from highly ranked teams. It’s more of a glamor contest than anything else.
He earned it in the Auburn game.
I’m well aware of their shit decision to join this jerkoff conference.
Well, if it becomes Alabama-Michigan for the championship, the top 2 finishers in the Heisman vote will face off. But Michigan would have to get past Georgia, which will be no easy task.
While I agree with the Roll Tide sentiment, and it was an outstanding game against Georgia, I don’t think one game, even against the top ranked defense in the nation, should bring the thing in.
And in the spirit of Roll Tide, here is a great remix of the chanty that gave birth to the phrase, performed by the descendants of the sorts of people that built the ship.

Which reminds me of the great observation that Greenpeace ought to adopt the Confederate Navy Jack as the Alabama and the Shenandoah sank far more whalers than the Rainbow Warrior ever did.
You can bet your ass big 10 rules
He earned it in the Auburn game.
It was a good game, but not because the quarterback was outstanding—rather it was seeing just how deep a hole Alabama could dig itself into before remembering that it needs to win another championship.
If he had been Heisman material, in my opinion, he’d been able to be taking two or three knees in the final minute and a half, rather than having to work hard to go into multiple overtimes.
No- he earned it picking apart a great Georgia defense last week.
Not so much Bryce Young against Auburn as it was the offensive line, and the defensive line, both of which were beaten as often as not against Auburn. And then against Georgia, it looked like we had entirely new, dominating lines on both sides of the ball.
Dude is only a sophomore. He can win two more Heismans
“Young is 314-of-462 passing for 4,322 yards and 43 TDs with just four interceptions through 12 games this season.”
462 attempts and only *4* interceptions!
Now thats dadgummed good by any way you care to measure a season.
Yup. He just turned 20.
Haven’t seen that much of him, but what I’ve seen, he’s a pretty cool customer.
Sabean turns out contenders if not champions every year. He’s simply a great coach and great coaches turn out great players and teams.
I think Alabama will play Georgia again and I’m hoping for another good matchup.
...and LET’S GO BRANDON...
:)
Looking forward to the Michigan v Georgia matchup.
