Leaders in the Group of Seven are looking for a consensus regarding Russia’s “malign behavior” towards Ukraine.

The leaders of the U.K., U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Italy are meeting at the Museum of Liverpool for two days of talks, with Russia-Ukraine tensions one of the key issues on the table, The Associated Press reported.

The meeting is hosted by British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, who wants “a show of unity against global aggressors” and a coordinated response....

So what has Russia actually done but respond, on it’s own land, to the continual advancement of NATO regarding Ukraine and other nations on it’s border.

The increasingly irrelevant G7 is discussing non-issues. LOL.

As Trump predicted, the only consensus among the Europeans is, “Please, Mr. Putin, don’t let us all freeze this winter”.

They wander acting like a bunch of senseless leaders unable to discuss or resolve anything. About as useless as the UN. A house full of self preserving entities.

From the Russian perspective, reestablishing the old borders of the Soviet Empire is a strategic must have. The only thing that saved Russia from Napoleon, The Swedes and a plethora of other invaders is it had strategic depth.

We could, conceivably, avoid the Russian wars of aggression in pursuit of their goals if we were willing to find an alternative that suits their (justified) paranoia on the subject. However, there are apparently no world class strategists, politicians or top-grade thinkers in any of the relevant governments.

None of the present Western powers has either the means, the population base or the will to invade Russia. But the Russians are thinking about the position they’ll be in at the end of this century when the ethnic Russian population will be small enough to barely fill a medium sized stadium.

My guess is, baring a mass conversion of Islamists to Catholics, that the ethnic Russian population will have converted by 2100, be dead, or will have emigrated to someplace with better economies and palm trees.

Gimme a break. Russia has more nuclear warheads than any other country in the world. Nobody is going to invade Russia. Entertaining Russia’s delusions is like agreeing that a 6’5” 250lb lunatic is perfectly rational in beating up a 4’10” woman for calling him a hurty word caused him to fear for his safety.

Russian’s paranoia is more than invaders sweeping across the step. The only good pieces of land where crops can be grown are now in other countries. The waterways south make it possible for those countries to export their products, notably agricultural products, south for significantly more money than the Russians can pay. The Russian currency has never had much value in comparison to the western currencies. This is just one of the many factors the Russians are concerned with. There’s just no good reason for anyone to actually live in Russia. The weather is bad. The economy sucks. The ability to make the land produce anything usable is limited. A survey of their population indicated an eye-popping percentage of their young people want to immigrate out of the frozen waste. Russia is like a drowning swimmer; dangerous to everyone. I’m not saying it’s necessary to give in to them, but I do think it’s necessary to take a realistic view of the situation. As you mentioned, they have the largest stock of nukes. This is not an easy situation for the most brilliant statesman of the ages. We have Biden. God help us.

Russia has plenty of arable land to more than feed their own population. They’ve been inviting farmers from South Africa to start up farms there, which is probably a step up from carrying on living in under that racist communist ANC regime.
