This is not the first time the prize was awarded for misleading and discredited coverage
In 2018, journalists from The New York Times and The Washington Post won a Pulitzer Prize in national reporting for their biased and inaccurate coverage of Russia’s alleged collaboration with the Trump campaign to interfere with the 2016 election, a claim we now know was a hoax. So when are they going to return the prize?
If this sounds familiar, it should. This is not the first time the prize – which is supposed to recognize outstanding achievement and public service in journalism – was awarded for misleading and discredited coverage.
In 1931, The New York Times published 13 articles by its Moscow reporter and Communist sympathizer, Walter Duranty, praising the Soviet Union and dictator Joseph Stalin’s government. These articles relied solely on official Soviet communist sources, ignored the evidence contradicting the government’s propaganda, and covered up the genocide Stalin was committing in the Ukraine.
Consequentially, Duranty’s work was explicitly and knowingly misleading. Columbia University history professor Mark von Hagen said in 2003 that Duranty was "a disgrace in the history of the New York Times."

Is the NYT going to return the Pulitzer won by Walter Duranty?
Has the American left accepted the fact that Russiagate was a hoax? Or do they still consider that to be a conspiracy theory?

Look up Joseph Pulitzer (whom the prize is named after), yellow journalism, the USS Maine, and why we went to war with Spain. When the USS Main exploded off the coast of Spanish controlled Cuba, most people assumed it was a typical steamboat explosion, something steamboats were prone to do. But Pulitzer wrote day after day about "new revelations" and made the public believe Spain fired onto the Maine. It was his day's version of click-bait. Thus, the public demanded we go to war with Spain, thus we had the Spanish-American War. All because of a lying journalist.
So the Pulitzer Prize is basically a reward for best in BS.

Pulitzer had/has little or nothing to do with accuracy. The first award emphasized advocacy. Pulitzer prizes ought to be the scarlet letter of journalistic integrity.
........ My guess is that they Can't and Won't Appologize ...... Heck ... Like it or not ... It's only us News Junkies that actually know about the outcome of the Russia Collusion investigations .... The Average Dick and Jane on the street do not even bother to check on the follow up of most, If not All, of these Propaganda News Stories ....
..... So unfortunately the Democrats .... The New York Times and the Main Stream Propaganda Media know this fact and that it would be very counterproductive for their cause to Appologize ... Let Alone even to report on the Outcome of these investigations. They love to keep the public in the Dark ... Hungry and Waiting for the next Juicy Planned and Fabricated Accusation to tarnish and demonize all things Conservative. If they appologized it would only draw attention to their devious Anti-American ways.

Who cares? The Pulitzer has become an irrelevant relic since it became politicized a long time ago.
