I’m with you. I’ve lived in a few big cities around the country, and it’s just common knowledge among people , as to where the bad neighborhoods are. It’s just common knowledge as to which areas to avoid in your search for a home. It’s equally common knowledge as to where the upscale neighborhoods are.

I was moving from out of state into another city in the late 80s, and was about to purchase my first house in a city I had no real knowledge of. Saw a house that looked good, and my very nice and good real estate agent said, "I'm not going to help sell you that house."

I asked why, and she just said the same thing without an answer. I said I wanted to go look at the house anyway, and she agreed to bring me.

Upon arrival, it was the nicest house in that section of the hood. Rest of the neighborhood was trash everywhere, boarded up windows and so on.

Told my agent that I got it, sorry for doubting her. I gathered she just didn't want to tell me that is was "the hood".
