With resurgent COVID, Baystate Health’s Dr. Mark Keroack says region faces crisis, urges state impose mask mandate

Baystate Health is 20% over capacity for hospitalized patients and 14% of its staff positions are vacant during a COVID-19 wave that isn’t expected to peak until the second week of January.

Dr. Mark A. Keroack, president and CEO of Baystate Health, isn’t shying away using from the word “crisis” and urged today the state reinstitute a mask mandate.

“It feels like (a crisis) right now to me,” he said. “We don’t have the people. We don’t have the space. We always find a way to take just one more.”

He cautioned Baystate’s ability to admit that next patient — for treatment of COVID, flu, a behavioral health crisis or otherwise — is nearing an end. Failing a statewide mask mandate, Keroack said he hopes towns and cities impose their own. He wants people to mask up when they’re in public spaces or in private gatherings with those who are unvaccinated or whose vaccination status is unknown.

...

For Keroack, it’s as simple as wearing a mask during a trip to the grocery store so you can have dinner with family versus being stuck, in his words, “flat on your back,” recovering from COVID.

“Wearing a mask is not that much of an imposition,” Keroack said. “I know for some people it’s some kind of crazy political identity statement. But it’s just good public health policy.”

He added, “To me, this is not an issue of personal freedom. People are not free to be reckless and deprive their friends and neighbors of access to health care whether it’s for COVID related conditions or not.”

...

Baystate is also facing a staffing shortage, with 1,800 open jobs out of 13,000 total roles.

Let's see, fire/forced staff to quit for not getting the miracle jab, that isn't stopping the spread or sickness, then complain you don't have enough beads, so you demand everyone wear a mask which didn't work the last two times you tried it.

This has really shown people who can think how impenitent at best, evil at worst, so many medical "experts" are.

Baystate Health has been raking in the bucks from Deep State.

Deep State has gotten what it’s paid for.

But they apparently work like magic at the grocery store and save you from the 100% chance you will go on vent and die at his hospital.

Does Dr. Keroack seriously not know that vaccinated people can transmit COVID?

Obviously he's not too bright. He also doesn't know that cloth masks have absolutely zero effect on viral transmission.

They’ve had TWO YEARS to expand medical capacity.

No “covid surge” should be a cause for alarm at this point.

They’re too busy firing health care workers who don’t want to take the “vaccines” even though many of them have already had COVID and recovered (natural immunity).

Translation: "I guess the vax didn't work, so let's resort to the mask...which also didn't work."

Genius.

People can get a booster shot and about 95% should be good to go mask-free for up to about six months.

The other 5% are probably under the care of doctors, who should tell them to live life carefully.

>>They’ve had TWO YEARS to expand medical capacity.

Tough to do when you can even fill the 1800 open positions they already have. New buildings and/or new equipment isn’t going to help if you can’t staff them.
