“Climate change action” is a fool’s errand. No amount of taxation or regulation will do anything except make the great majority of mankind descend into abject poverty and unmitigated misery, while changing the cycles of seasonal warming and cooling over long periods of time not one whit.
The planet Earth has a balance of heating and cooling that has worked pretty effectively for the entire span of time that there has been an earth. Over billions of years, the atmosphere has transformed from water vapor, methane, ammonia and carbon dioxide, into an atmosphere that is today about 78% diatomic elemental nitrogen, about 21% diatomic elemental oxygen, a variable amount of water vapor, and a miniscule (but very vital) sliver of a percent of carbon dioxide.
The parameters that control the earth’s average temperature are all much more vast than can be altered in any significant manner by any activity that humanity can engage in, no more than an entire army of ants, every ant in the world working assiduously, could reduce Mt. Everest to a level plain. I wouldn’t know why the ants would consider such an endeavor to be to their benefit anyway.
This story reminds me to burn more wood this winter.
