In High School I had a physics teacher who was a Tuskegee airman. He accepted no excuses.. none. Actually, he accepted them all. “That is a wonderful excuse! And what is an excuse? It’s a reason I cannot rely on you”.
Maddening, but that is how it is. For all their -wonderful- excuses and explanations, one fact remains. America cannot rely on Israel to have our back.

The difference between a big country and a small one is that a small country can disappear over night and knows it.
Mexico is a big country. It can afford to p!ss off POTUS. It might gain Obrador brownie points to do so. He can afford “backbone”.
Israel is a small country. P!ssing off a power-mad POS, who’s not right in the head but who is at the head of the most powerful country in the world, would have been a bad move for Israel.
Trump, I think, understands that situation. What he needed was for Barr to STFU. His parting back-stab was telling.

If you want to know who the crooks are they are the political hacks who do not share the same surname as their spouse. The different surnames make it easier to hide conflicts of interest.

You are confusing gestures with substance. America was not hurt by any gesture made by Bibi. At most, some feelings were hurt.
That is not how the world of realpolitik works. The principle is, you put your country’s interests first, and cultivate the least bad relations possible with whomever is up at bat as POTUS.
And if it is in America’s interests to throw Israel to the wolves, it would have done so in 1973. Why do you think America has continually patronized Israel? “Democratic values”? C’mon, man. America isn’t bosom buddies with some of the most odious tyrants on the planet? America hasn’t interfered in Israeli elections before? Clinton did and so did Obama. Israel does pragmatic things for America that America values, quite apart from being democratic.
Israel didn’t “turn on America”. Neither Trump nor Foe are America. America is a system of government, and also a geopolitical land mass and population that possesses great wealth and power. Foe will be gone soon. America will endure until then. Trump will be gone after 2029. America will still be here, and Israel and America’s interests will still align, because Israel has to use creativity and determination to survive, and its people has both in large measures. And that creates innovations and ideas that America can use.
To “turn on America” would mean to materially help China to take over the world, or help Iran to terrorize the entire Middle East and drive oil prices even higher, impoverishing Americans. But Israel would be averse to both such developments, as is America.
Right now, China has hypersonic missiles and America does not. Israeli scientists and engineers will help America get them, too. China is trying to develop brain-control weapons, something so heinous it has to be stopped. Israeli scientists and physicians will help America counter that. Israeli spies will be useful in uncovering Iranian, Russian and Chinese intrigues. Our stock in trade is clever little SOBs who can figure out things like this, and share them with America, regardless of who is in power. We have an abundance of clever little SOBs. Baruch Hashem for that.

I'm running into this all the time now. There is an implicit belief that the United States would go to war on behalf of Israel, and I don't believe it's true.
That's not anti-semitic, that's pragmatic. Our country is disintegrating before our eyes. I've said it before - Israel's strategic situation is terrible. Whether they are making it better or worse is a matter for discussion.
The responses are two: 1) God will take care of it. OK, that's great. But that means we don't have to worry about it. or 2) The US military will take care of it.
I'm telling you right now, tha US military has fought its last foreign war over third parties. That's a fact.
If Israel's plan is that the US is going to protect them - they really need to reevaluate their grand strategy, because any President who even tried to send troops back to the sandbox would be removed from office so fast it would make your head spin.
Did Bibi really think that by jumping in right off the bat to congratulate Biden, that would change Biden’s basic approach to Israel? After Biden’s campaigning on reviving the Iran nuclear deal, his past pronouncements regarding Israeli settlements, and all the domestic pressures from the Democrat left?
Since then, Biden has been falling all over himself trying to appease Iran. So where did Bibi’s action get him?

BS. Trump was not beaten by anybody. He does not have power for the moment, which is no tragedy. They are still scared of him, and he’s still up and about, free as a bird, and they are losing it. Bibi did nothing to aid them in usurping power. He’s not a part of the American electoral process. Bill Barr was, and he caused some real harm. Not to Trump, but to America, by poohpoohing a special prosecutor.
Dems are in power? The fly is in power over the flypaper. Trump was beaten? There isn’t a scratch on him, and he still lives rent free in their heads. He’s the Obiwan, which means that he became more powerful since losing a duel with sabers made of light. He’s become a rallying point against the Dems, who become more repressive the more afraid they get. And they have plenty of reason to fear.
Trump said the MAGA movement is just beginning and best is yet to come. He’s right.

Failing to do so would have registered as a slight in his tiny, spiteful mind, leading to reprisals against Israel in addition to his already sucky attitude.
‘Since then, Biden has been falling all over himself trying to appease Iran.’ Trying is the key word. Iran does not respect its would-be appeasers and holds out for more than Biden can give them. They are also spiteful and little. In the end, he’ll have to turn back to Israel, not because he likes Israel, but because Israel is a useful ally to have.
