CHICAGO — Mayor Lori Lightfoot and health officials announced Tuesday that individuals 5 years of age and older will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to dine indoors and visit gyms or entertainment venues where food or drinks are served.
According to the mayor’s office, the new requirement goes into effect Jan. 3 and is in response to the rise in COVID-19 cases in part by the omicron variant. It is similar to the requirements already in place in other large cities, including New York City and Los Angeles.
“There’s no denying that we’re in a fifth wave of COVID-19. This new wave is seemingly more deadly than the last, spreading faster and causing profound harm,” Lightfoot said.

Yep that struck me too. We have heard that this omicron variant is far less deadly than the original. Do facts matter? She is making laws and policies and decrees based ona false assessment of the facts. It makes one think that facts just don’t matter.

I’ve been to Chicago on business quite a number of times. Have been downtown by the lake in the daytime and at night(out to dinner). It has been 30 years since I was there, but can only imagine how bad it is now.
They will run out of feds. Plus most of the white woke squids on their phones won’t want to join their new rainbow police forces because they would have to work.

In many Chi-town neighborhoods., the vax checkers will be shot through the eye and the thugs will continue to steal their groceries.
I assume this does not apply to the substantial population of illegal aliens in Chicago
When intelligent people simply stop patronizing these sorts of establishments the fastest are going to then include grocery stores.
