Attorney General Merrick Garland announced on Tuesday that thousands of federal inmates who were released due to COVID concerns will not have to return to prison when the health emergency ends and can instead remain under home confinement.
The move is a reversal of an order by the Trump administration issued in January and will affect approximately 5,000 convicts.
“Thousands of people on home confinement have reconnected with their families, have found gainful employment, and have followed the rules,” Garland proclaimed in a statement.
“We will exercise our authority so that those who have made rehabilitative progress and complied with the conditions of home confinement, and who in the interests of justice should be given an opportunity to continue transitioning back to society, are not unnecessarily returned to prison,” he declared.

Garland is just making more room for “political prisoners,” who will be detained without trial and never be released.
They are probably at home receiving guns, ammo, and paychecks for their Brown-shirt Antifa training.

A good example is the Congresswoman who was car jacked in the past day or so. She’s lucky to be alive.
But the January 6th patriots who were protesting a stolen presidential election are forced to endure the horrors of the DC gulag without trial or bail.

I’m surprised any home-bound rehab proposal for convicts doesn’t include government rate per diem, adjusted for locale.
You make a great point; something that didn't occur to me. If they haven't fulfilled the terms of their punishment, just give them the poke, stick them back in a cell, and let them finish paying their "debt to society". Seems to me that the new policy is a defacto admission that the pokes don't work and/or that the current admin doesn't give a whit about crime and punishment.
This FREAK of an Attorney General is so easy to hate.
Why not declare all criminals with warrants, FBI Ten Most, free to go on with their lives?

criminals, rioters, looters, vandals, and arsonists are the footsoldiers of the Media-Dem Party, that’s why so few of them are being charged with anything. The Media-Dem Party uses them to terrorize the majority of people in the country, keep us in our homes, and afraid to say anything. Unfortunately, it has been quite effective.
