The panic over the Omicron variant of COVID-19, which is milder than previous variants, in New York City is now causing a strain on the city's medical and emergency services as people are jamming up 911 lines and emergency rooms over minor symptoms.
New York City Councilmember and Chair of the Health Committee Mark Levine has pleaded with residents to not call 911 for mild symptoms or to go to an emergency room for COVID-19 tests.
The New York City Fire Department tweeted a video telling people "ambulances do not provide testing for COVID-19, and patients are not transported to a hospital to be tested upon request."
"Please only call 911 during a real emergency," the department added.
Levine said there has been an increase in hospitalizations, standing at over 3,000 despite having mask and vaccine mandates in place.

This utter fear is brought on COMPLETELY by the media AND 1/3 of our population does NOT have an ounce of common sense!! OMG just thank God that during WW2 this was NOT our citizenry!!!

There was an urgent care center with a line of people outside going all the way down the block. This was about 7:30 in the morning. They were all just lined up in the 40 degree chill, all with their masks on.
I developed symptoms (and a positive covid test) on Sat. When looking on the Internet for home care covid treatment options, there are nowhere to be found. Just “go to your doctor.”
So I have to go to “shadowy” right wing sites to find out info about Zinc, Vit C and D, and Quercetin. And here on Free Republic someone taught me to get an O2 device for my finger to monitor oxygen levels (which so far knock on wood have been normal). And where to secretly find Ivermectin (I opted not to do that).
The covid treatment info on the internet is NOWHERE—only prevention. Nothing about WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET IT. So no wonder everyone’s running to their doc and to the ER.
It’s a mistake. Hospitals WILL get overwhelmed this way.

If nothing else, the last two years have shown me that our world has an overabundance of mindless sheep who can be easily controlled.
