Only those who pass the ultra-leftist political litmus test get promotions by liberal tyrants.

I’m sure he’s a clown.

At least we can be sure he did not speak out against the great Afghanistan skedaddle. Where are Michael Flynn or Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller Jr. when you need them?

Lt. Col. Erik Kurilla is out of Iraq, recovering from gunshot wounds in a Tacoma hospital.
Although not well-known, Kurilla — the highest ranking soldier from the Fort Lewis-based Stryker Brigade to be seriously wounded in battle — has a dedicated following on the Internet.
For more than eight months, a blog written by independent journalist Michael Yon has chronicled the battles, strategies and sorrows of Kurilla’s unit, the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry (“Deuce Four”). Yon’s periodic dispatches often describe details and tactics of the Iraq war not found in the mainstream media. Kurilla is portrayed as tough, dedicated and possessed with an uncanny ability to avoid enemy bullets. That changed last Friday when Kurilla was shot during....

I was at Bragg in the ‘70’s when Gen, Hank Emerson (callsign Gunfighter6) took over as Base Commander. He slapped the 18th Corps into fighting shape double time. Kurilla sounds like a warfighter just like Emerson. Lord, please let it be so.

Thanks for posting that.

While he might not match some folks political views, he has a lot of street cred.

Yon’s dispatches and his photos made it clear that Kurilla was a real soldier and an aggressive combat leader. That’s doesn’t mean that he will do a great job in a 4-star political job, but no one should assume that he is a Biden toady without some substantive evidence.

Didn’t Emerson come from 2ID in Korea? I recall the callsign.

I know he came from a command in Korea so I’d say that’s the guy. I read about some of his exploits in David Hackworth’s book “About Face”. Highly recommend the book if you want to know what Nam was really all about.
