In July 2021, McLean Bible Church (MBC) in Vienna, Va., which is pastored by David Platt, was sued by five of its members (current and former) for allegedly barring them on illegal grounds in June of 2021 from voting in an important congregational meeting to approve new church leaders.
MBC’s constitution says that elders must be approved by a three-quarters majority, but on June 30, 2021, the vote failed for the first time in the church’s history.
Platt accused some MBC members of organizing a planned effort to thwart the election in a Sunday sermon, saying that a small group of people within MBC and some outside the church had “coordinated a divisive effort to use disinformation in order to persuade others to vote these men down as part of a broader effort to take control of this church.”
The lawsuit also states that in addition to illegally barring them from voting in the July 18 members meeting to affirm the new elders, a second election that affirmed three new church elders violated McLean’s constitution. The second election required MBC members to show identification, and ballots where labeled with the member’s name. Inactive members were given provisional ballots. Any member who misses in-person services eight weeks in a row is placed on MBC’s inactive member list, according to their constitution…
Due to the pandemic, it has been hard to know who has been in-person and who has had to watch online. MBC’s leadership has been accused of disqualifying members who they thought would vote against the way leadership desired.

I have lost touch with the MBC members that I knew. They were all faithful disciples. I balk at the thought that a pastor would rig an election. But the United Methodist Church’s wokesters are a corrupt lot (and shall we speak about the Pope?)—so I am willing to believe this.
About time. This was my beloved home church for decades under the sound teaching of Lon Solomon. Lon was deposed and I left. What a place for teaching and fellowship this church was...how I miss it. For those interested, Lon can be found on you tube...Live With Lon. Same great teaching with a simple touch, since he now teaches from home. I pray the Lord restores MBC.
1. Approval by a 3/4 majority is a prescription for paralysis. Hope they can settle this in a Godly way.

Liberals will use any means to seize control.
Both sides have apparently removed 1 Cor. 6 from their Bibles.
At the very first inference that I would hear at any church implying white guilt, would cause me and my family to get up and walk out. I would probably shake the dust from my shoes before I walked out the door as well.

Was he really deposed? That is shocking. I attend another (at least until recently) rock-solid church in the area, so only viewed MBC from a distance, but I always thought they were one of the good guys. Though from what I have heard of Platt, I am not impressed.

Good examples. The man has been infected with needless white guilt. I know blacks who are far more charitable toward their white brethren because they’ve witnessed the devastation that PC religion has wreaked on their communities.
We are ALL guilty. Every one. No one is without sin, and I won’t hang around while workers of iniquity blame whitey.
Those passages are recounting historical events. Lunatic woke stuff generally doesn’t do that.
My impression is that he was pushed out, but that is just my impression. I remember him saying before he left that he would still be preaching there and that he hoped they would use his “so what?” Catch phrase.
I’m in Arlington, VA. The wife is Catholic, so we go there for mass. Recently, I got curious about finding a protestant church to visit with, as well. My criteria is simple: don’t have a BLM sign out front, and I’ll consider you. Haven’t looked hard, but whenever I come across one a church nearby, there it is, BlahLahdiMah.
Meanwhile, I’m quite happy w/ our Catholic priest who goes HARD on abortion.
If they refer to past performance, then they are, for EVERYTHING is 'history'.
