A man in traditional Jewish garb was randomly slugged in Brooklyn over the weekend, authorities said.
The 21-year-old victim — who was wearing Hasidic garments — was walking at Troy Avenue and Carroll Street in Crown Heights around 1:20 a.m. Saturday when the suspect approached him from across the street and socked him in the nose, cops said.
The assailant didn’t say a word during the assault, police said.
The victim was treated at the scene for his injury.
The suspect — shown on video walking on the sidewalk past a yellow school bus for Beis Chaya Mushka, a girls’ high school located at that intersection — fled, police said.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Unit is investigating the assault.
The incident comes just over a week after Christina Darling, 21, allegedly accosted three kids on Avenue P near Coleman Street in Marine Park and snarled, “Hitler should have killed you all. I’ll kill you and know where you live,” before spitting on an 8-year-old boy.
Darling was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated harassment and menacing, both as hate crimes, and acting in a manner injurious to a child. ***

Once you’re wearing identifiable culturalist clothing, it is no longer quite so random. It is focused hatred.
We’re long overdue for an honest discussion on race. Which the Left talks about a lot, but what they really want to do is just call us racists and not have an honest discussion.
Inside sources say that an angry Amish guy was running away from the scene with a wood chisel and mallet——screaming something about Kosher food is not better than grass fed meats.

I understand blacks are upset about slavery, but guess what? Not all slaves were black and blacks are not the only racial group who has suffered.
There are some other things besides ‘discussion’ that are long overdue...

Lincoln would have sent all the freed slaves back to Africa had Frederick Douglass not intervened.
What would have been a great compromise is buying Cuba, sending all the freed slaves there, and letting it exist as a U.S. territory or protectorate.
America doesn’t have a gun problem, a violence problem, or a race problem.
It has a black problem.

Only 350k Africans were imported into the USA as slaves. (Most African Americans’ ancestors came to the US voluntarily.)

When was the last time we saw a headline read “Man in evening gown and stiletto heels randomly attacked in Brooklyn”?

Might be some sort of pattern.
The author confuses “randomly” with “gratuitously,” i.e., for no apparent motive (e.g., robbery) other than assault itself. It is highly unlikely that the person was a random victim, but was targeted because of his Jewish clothing.
No reason in the world why someone couldn’t dress up in “traditional costume”, to blend in with many others in “traditional garb” in such a neighborhood, then when an attacker comes in to “randomly attack” the imposter victim, they pull out a handgun, ventilate the attacker, and depart.
The police would interview the “random attacker”, assuming he is still operable; then they can interview those who live there, and get their description of the gunman.
And only get bupkis. Would be some hilarious headlines, though.
“Small Jewish gunman *assassinates* large black former repeat felon in Jewish neighborhood. Hate crime is suspected. ‘I weren’t doin’ nothin’,” says victim.
Does not sound like a random attack to me. Sounds more likely to be a targeted attack based upon religion/ethnicity.
Brooklyn at 1:30 am? That might be the problem.
