The whole problem with American politics, is that you are happily fooled by the euphemisms that these people use to cover their insidiousness: “progressive”, “liberal”, “humanist”, “environmentalist”, etc., etc.

You need to call them what they are: socialists, marxists, communists. That’s what they are. By not recognizing this is why they have taken over so many of our institutions.
