Four doctors, including the director of Covid response for UCSF Medical Center’s emergency department, are calling on state leaders to acknowledge the transition of Covid to an endemic disease and lift most masking policies for school-aged children.
The petition was first circulated Friday and currently has more than 9,500 signatures. It includes a strongly-worded open letter to Gov. Newsom and state public health and education leaders, and it notes that “restrictive policies … have long lost their justification as necessary for prevention of serious illness and death.”
The California Public Health Department said in a statement responding to the letter that “vaccinations, boosters and masking remain our most effective tools in the fight against Covid-19” and pointed to their role in keeping schools and businesses open.

At least some California doctors have spoken up.
the mask is the equivalent of security theatre at the airport. millions of Karen’s are strongly in favor, so that grandma doesn’t get the equivalent of the flu. millions more are keeping their kids at home despite the mask and vax.
the whole state is seriously (expletive). it’s nice to have the MDs reverse course, but it is too little too late. it is hard to turn around a cruise liner after 24 months of telling people to vax, mask and distance.
plus Gavin is a puppet for the CTA teachers union which funded his campaign and antirecall effort. CTA loves masks on the kiddies. So this goes nowhere without the fatcat union boss signoff.

Getting much harder to censor the science as studies are coming out about the actual effects of Omicron and Omicron Part 2 now unleashing.

Note that virtually every pandemic countermeasure effort, even shielding the population, and vaxxing, esp kids, is showing to have almost ZERO effect on Omicron spreading… and why that is a good thing, for herd immunity
“ get the vaxx so you don’t infect Grandma” is now showing up as a false statement, based on science studies of omicron.
Basically Grandma and everyone else is going to get Omicron.
Grandma’s vaxx may keep her out of the hospital.
So Grandma should decide to get vaxxed for Grandma.
Based on her assessed risk vs benefit.
Ditto for everyone else,
Kids who are vaxxed…kids who are unvaxxed= same viral load, with Omicron, which is a variant that escapes both vaxx and natural immunity ( from Delta and original Sars v2 )
