New York State is still worth fighting for: Despite the craziness emanating from Albany and in NYC, many New Yorkers aren’t leaving; they’re pushing back against leftist policies.

Like our brothers and sisters in the other Blue State Gulags, we New Yorkers have been to hell and back these past couple of years under the reign of King COVID. Unless you have been here, those of you who are fortunate enough to live in a Free State have no idea what we’ve been going through.

We have seen our fundamental liberties and civil rights, which we used to take for granted as part of our American heritage, taken from us by a cabal of the most evil scientists, bureaucrats, and politicians ever assembled in America.

We have mask mandates, “vax” mandates, and everything in between that has been placed on our schools and workplaces, all without the benefit of the legislature’s imprimatur. Our power-hungry, unelected governor, who replaced Cuomo, the scourge of elder-care facilities, tells us that, just like her five-year-old daughter who had a meltdown because she had to wear sneakers to kindergarten, we will get used to it!

For Pure Bloods like me, New York City is pretty much off-limits these days. We are not allowed to eat in restaurants, go to concerts, shows, or museums, or pretty much do anything indoors because we haven’t been jabbed. Not only that, but who wants to take a chance on getting mugged or murdered by one of the thousands of criminals who now roam the streets courtesy of the Demo-Marxist politicians who implemented all kinds of “reforms” to enable these thugs?

So, the obvious question, one that I am asked all the time, is this: Why do I and people like me stay here? Why don’t we pull up stakes and move to Florida like so many of my friends and relatives have done? Certainly, life would be so much better and easier in every way, especially when it comes to the cost of living. Can it be that we are all just masochistic gluttons for punishment?

My answer is this: I have lived my whole life within 50 miles of New York City where my parents, my husband, children, grandchildren, and I were born.

We worked hard and built our dream house in the beautiful northern suburbs where we raised our kids and now our grandchildren. There’s a beautiful lake and state park nearby that are as magnificent as any tourist attraction in the East. We have strong roots in this community, including many relatives and friends who feel, as we do, that New York is worth fighting for. In short, why should we be the ones who have to have to move?

Long Island (both Nassau and Suffolk ) went totally RED last November 2021. So did Staten Island.

So did many other parts of New York State. The fight ain’t over till it’s over.

Conservative will never turn states like NY and CA by themselves. It will take catastrophic failure of the welfare state to convert the gim-me-dats that vote for socialist policies

NY needs to be broken into at least 2 states, probably 3.

Upstate is the midwest in its outlook and economy. NY City dominates the entire state.

Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.

We fight when they no longer have any control over us. only then.

They can fight all they want. But the invasion to our nation is real and it’s here to stay. The most violent gangs have found a home in New York and they’re coming across our border and traveling, complements of the government, making their way to New York. Sorry to say this but our country will never be the same... What we have lost in this nation can never be replaced again....IT’S reality folks.

It comes down to whether people push back and fight. Politicians hate public opposition, they notice.

Admittedly I live in rural Hawaii, so I have no idea why anybody that is rational wants to live in New York state.
That being said, stay there and don’t screw the rest of the country over with your stupid politics. Certainly don’t come to Hawaii, it is already a mess, but the Democrats here are so incompetent that we can do as we darn well please.

Every other car I see here in SC has a NY license plate.

Not sure but this type of crap has led a local private school near me (rural SC) to end it’s 40 year tradition of taking its senior class to NYC for a week before graduation. The reason- the entire class got robbed at gun point and mugged last spring.

RE: Politicians hate public opposition, they notice.

There is pushback.

For one, Kathy Hochul’s mask mandates have been challenge in court and she LOST. The Judge told her that it is NOT within her power to mandate masks. It is the State Assembly’s job to pass the law.

And even without this court case, the mask mandates are in effect, useless anyway.

41 of New York’s 65 counties REFUSE to cooperate. I see maskless people everywhere I go, inside or outside.

What we have is a tone-deaf governor who wants power and control but she gets to have it only if people are willing to cede it to her.

Leaving one’s long time residence and community is not an easy decision. One of the toughest you’ll ever make.

My personal rule has always been “if its not getting better, get out”. I’ve moved several times in accordance with that philosophy. Its worked for me but everyone values things differently.

Change is frightening but can also be exciting and energizing. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do.

NJ is in the same boat; some of us are lingering for our own reasons (family, work, school) but the next generation knows they have no future here. Anyone who can leave without major inconvenience is doing so; the flight of employers from our high taxes and gubmint regulation makes it a no-brainer for many.

True but liberals don’t let court decisions, laws or the Constitution stop them from forging ahead with their radical agenda. Just saying.

How is the homeless situation in Honolulu?

When last I went there ( pre-pandemic ) there were tents everywhere I went. Admittedly it’ a great place to be homeless. Great weather.

True. If you look at the fundamental changes in demographics, culture, morality, work ethic, respect for law and order, etc. its clear we’re never going back to what we once were. Its gone.

It takes a long time to build things up but a relatively short time to tear them down. Sad reality of life.

I appreciate the sentiment, but there are other dream homes, other lakes, and other beautiful attractions. There are other communities in the country where you find more like-minded people who truly want to preserve a way of life that still exists, rather than play catch-up with one that was stolen long ago.

I left NY 11 years ago and I don’t regret it for a second. Everything there is corrupt. Everything is a lie. Everything is against decent people just trying to live a safe, productive, and free life. There’s always someone trying to pick your pocket. Always someone pushing obvious lies down your throat and expecting you to just go along with it. Laws are enforced unevenly. They are enacted in the dead of night by thieves and plunderers. And far too many of my neighbors, members of the ‘community’ I had ‘roots’ in, were complicit.

Nothing is perfect anywhere and politicians of all parties are a mess, but in New York, the mess has become systemic. The patient has gone septic. It is beyond saving at this point.
