GLENVIEW, Ill. - A suspect stole mail from a mail receptacle at the Glenview Post Office over the weekend.
According to Glenview police, an unknown suspect pried open the outdoor mail receptacle at the Glenview Post Office, located at 1400 Patriot Blvd., between Saturday at 6 p.m. and Monday at 5 p.m., and stole an unknown amount of mail.
Police are warning residents who dropped off mail that contained financial payments or personal information during this time frame to take necessary steps to stop fraud.
Residents are encouraged to notify their banks and credit card companies as well as cancel any checks that may have been in the receptacle.
If you believe your mail was stolen, you can file a report with the Glenview Police Department. The department will then forward the report to the U.S. Postal Inspectors Office.

Give the people what they voted for, good and hard.
The first step should be to stop using the USPS "service".
Poor guy, put the photo of himself naked into the wrong envelope.
Theft of US Post Office mail, is a Federal Charge.
Oh, forgot, thieves get a pass on this as long as they are ComDem’s.
Who hasn’t forgot to put a stamp on a letter at one time or another?
Deadly force should be applied to immediately stop anyone illegally tampering with Post Office mail receptacles.
Glenview is 83% white and has a median family income of $120K.
Sadly, the Postal Inspectors are slower than molasses in January.
According their own web site, Postal Inspectors successfully prosecuted 441 cases of mail fraud in 2018.
That’s less than a drop in the bucket.
Now the criminals know all the people in town who don’t know how to pay a bill online. Ha ha.
Seriously, more bank fraud used to come off stolen checks than credit cards. If you have a routing number and checking account number you can play ACH bingo.
That doesn’t count all of the cases that were settled before an arrest.

Glenview was my home of record for about twenty years, A nice sleepy burg that was adjacent to the GLENVIEW NAVAL AIR STATION.
Note the location: Patriot Drive.
The main north-south route across the former NAS.
My father was career Navy and we were never far from a Navy base.

He was just retrieving the letter to his ex, written the previous evening while in a drunken stupor and mailed in that box!
Had a client that tried committing suicide with pills and a gallon of whisky. He wrote letter to all his friends and mailed them before passing out. He woke up the next morning with a hangover from hell, unable to get out of bed.
Then he remembered the letters he mailed. But there was nothing he could do about it, or he too would have raided the mailbox.
I only have to rely on my own postal carrier to steal/lose my mail. Put a letter in the box with the flag up... mail had a check in it to a person and it never showed up. (The check was never cashed.) Filed an investigation with the USPS (because that’s what the Postmaster said to do because they scan all of the mail traveling through the facilities.) The investigation never found the letter. A month ago my neighbor knocked on our door and he had a whole handful of mail in his hand, our mail was “delivered” to his mailbox. A week ago my wife’s employer called and stated how they saw she hadn’t cashed her August expense check ($100 check) - well it was because she never received it in the mail! Yesterday I saw my neighbor taking an envelope over to our other neighbor with a “misplaced” letter. Affirmative action is wonderful! This is a regular occurrence now!

A school chum’s father was a US Postal Inspector, and he made it out like his father was Efrem Zimbalist Jr. of the FBI.
He made the claim that the Postal Inspectors have a near 100% convection rate?
Years later, I worked with some at the O’Hare sorting center.
They were scary smart!
IIRC only about a thousand of them for the entire postal system.
With 35 thousand FBI agents... The Postal Inspectors must be 35 times smarter than a typical FBI agent.
Stupid crooks never elevate to the big game their idea of a big deal is nocking over a 7-11.
