I like the idea that’s being put out there to dispute the charge to your credit card since the funds were not used for the purpose intended.
I’m thinking a class action suit for fraud.
I’d like to hear from counsel on this, but there is nothing in their “Terms of Service” that says GoFundMe can arbitrarily seize money that is donated for a “charity” that they feel violates their rules and re-direct the funds to another recipient.
In fact, there is language that specifically states that any disputes between parties shall be settled by binding arbitration. It also doesn’t preclude someone from taking the service to a court of record for relief.
I’d like to see someone with a law degree read their terms of service and see if they may have committed an act of theft.
The bank that issues the card often ends up eating disputed charges.
