Luxury taxes simply take jobs away from workers who build, sell and service luxury items as the rich folks just steer away from spending their money that way. Raising taxes disproportionately on people with money NEVER works.

They did a 10% luxury tax on the federal level as part of a debt reduction deal back in 1990 or 1991, and the result was basically the collapse of the luxury boat building industry in the USA.

Taxes would be increased to 3% on items deemed a luxury. Examples outlined in the bill include airplanes, expensive watercrafts, high-end cars, jewelry and guns. Witt says once each item goes over a certain price, it will be taxed.
