I remember that one frost in Brazil made coffee go way up. Then it did not go down-—at least in that era (end of 1970s).
Coffee priced at $2.83 in 1967 → $21.18 in 2021 - According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, prices for coffee are 648.46% higher in 2021 versus 1967 (a $18.35 difference in value).www.in2013dollars.com website.

I noticed Aunt Jemima isn’t going off the shelves . . . I can’t even remember its new name. I certainly haven’t bought any.

Smithfield was bought out by the Chinese a few years ago - they can keep their meat

I believe Smithfield is the biggest meat manufacterer.
Wouldn’t you know it? Smithfield is owned by the
(Red) Chinese.

You do realize that nearly every state has 6 month limits on UB extended benefits are typically 13 more weeks and most states have a minimum U6 number to trigger access to those. Texas cut off extended benefits last September and all federal money up last July didn’t make a dent in job takers. It’s a dead horse to keep beating the UB that ended so long ago now and Texas is still struggling to fill spots why.

What has happened is a fundamental.shift of the work life balance and also second and third jobs that people realized they could live without. A good portion of those service jobs that are still vacant were.filled by second or third job seekers that now say why was I killing myself with three jobs when I can work one for more money at Amazon or uber or door dash vs retail or fast food. Same for the titanic shift for CSR work from home every CSR I have spoken too in the last two years that was not in India was taking calls from home and had no plans to quit doing that and go back to retail or restaurant service let alone meat packing. Amazon is paying $20 he in dfw for warehouse workers and drivers who in their right mind would take a fast food job at half that even as a second job. I run three solar crews and start my guys at $20 my crew leader makes 25 I ha e zero problem getting guys. My stone masons make 25 as do my finishers and stone sealers again no problem getting help. This is a seller’s market for labor big biz got used too low balling labor and built a whole industry on it that era is over if you want people you have to pay the market rate which is near $20 or just above it. If your whole business model was based on cheap near slave wage rates then you didn’t have a business you had a exploitation sweatshop and deserve to go under. Demand is so high in dfw for stone work I doubled my bid price and still am booked solid till August now. I raised wages to bring and keep talent and am making more now than when I paid $15 and 20 for labor and crew leader. Supply and demand is a beautiful thing.

Yep, I’m familiar with the laws surrounding unemployment compensation. However, those were extended for a while to 99 weeks A friend of mine found a guy and offered him job, but we said he couldn’t be at work for 3 weeks. My friend asked why and he said his unemployment benefits didn’t run out for 3 weeks. Cut the time period and guess what happens.

The food isn’t any more or less scarce. The transportation costs have risen, so the price has to rise to keep up.

That all ended nationally last year in September the feds cut extended fed benefits in all 50 states there is no 99. No state in the union does more than 52 weeks without fed money not a single one. People who are on UB now have had for work in the last 6 months somewhere for a period of time that varies by state. There is absolutely no way that the current labor shortages are due to people getting work and then getting layed off again in the last 6 months. There has been a structural shift in the labor vs captial market. Add in 3 million plus boomers taking early retirement or actually reaching retirement and you have the sources of the labor shortages. The employers now must compete on the open market which is heavily favored in labor’s corner right now. Offer higher wages than your competitor and people will come. People holding out for the end of UB all got pink slips for that last September at the latest, the red states cut it off last July or some back in May to get federal extended benefits you had to already exhaust your state UB. All that is over in every state and has been. People need to stop beating a dead horse. If McDonald’s needs burger flipers they must now compete with Amazon or uber or door dash or any number of side gigs that pay better.

I don’t do Tyson or Smithefield. I pretty much try to stay away from any of the big names in food. I try to buy stuff that’s produced here in the Midwest.

"Have you noticed the cans have gotten smaller and the price remains the same or higher?"

Yep, I HAVE noticed. The manufacturing companies are using all kinds of tricks, overt or subtle.

For instance, my face powder compact contains the same amount of powder, but the price has soared....and, they no longer include the powder puff pad. You have to buy 'em separately somewhere, wherever..... !

The extended benefits did end in Sept and included:

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA)

Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC)

Extended Benefits (EB)

$300 Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC)

$100 Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation (MEUC)

Most states still allow 6 months of benefits (MA is 30 weeks) and, while administered by the State, most of the funding is done via federal unemployment insurance payments by the employer and that tax can vary by employer depending on employment history.

My point is that some people who are within the 6 month benefit period have turned down work until their benefits expire. Most states require you to be "actively looking for work" while you get those benefits, even requiring an interview to be signed by the interviewing company. However, don't take a shower or shave for a week, show up for the interview drunk, have the interviewer sign off, and you continue to get benefits. I was a grad student working for Dr. Belton Fleisher on a BLS study and saw it first hand. It happens.
