Send inside baseball info for everyone. The feds spent over a decade trying to devise a new hours of service rule for truck drivers. What they came up with was a one size fits all disaster. Truck drivers used to take a nap in the afternoon, then wake up and drive and eat dinner, then if they felt awake and could drive some more they might drive another three or four hours before resting. A hard 14 hour rule made that impossible. Once a driver starts in the morning his electronic log gives him 14 hours after which he must stop for 10. This means that it’s always a race to the truckstop before they fill up. And sleepy afternoons where they are forced to drive even though they would love to take a nap. This is what bureaucracy gets you. This is what idiots in suits and ties who’ve never actually driven a truck has wrought. Truck driver related accidents are up, not down.

I retired from long haul a few years back. It used to be a freedom based way to make a living. Governments have destroyed it as a career, they sucked every bit of pleasure out of the job and have left the drivers as overly monitored slaves to regulations.
Your explanation matches what I’m always saying as a supervisor to other supervisors: “The person who does the sweeping should choose the broom.”
Well put.
6 O’clock in the morning, suns coming up, been driving all night, in the middle of Houston traffic east bound on I 10, sun is in your eyes, can hardly keep your eyes open, just need to shut down for a few, no where to go, just slap yourself, splash some water on your face, slap your thigh and turn the music up.
