Biden’s Plan Fails to Move Long Beach Port Operations to 24/7 After 4 Months

The Port of Long Beach is not yet at 24/7 operations, despite President Joe Biden’s promise in October that the crucial cargo facility would be shifting to a round-the-clock schedule to alleviate a backlog of cargo ships that is hurting supply chains.

Port of Long Beach Executive Director Mario Cordero revealed in his annual “State of the Port” address on Wednesday that the port facility had not moved to a 24/7 schedule, though he commended Biden for helping start the “conversation”:

However, Breitbart News reported at the time, the plan struggled at the outset because there were not enough truckers and warehouse workers willing to work the overnight shift: “Analysts who have looked into the supply chain problem say it is not the hours of operation at the ports that is the major hold up. Instead, the constraints are shortages of truck drivers and warehouse employees. These were in short supply during regular hours and are extremely difficult to put in place for a 3 a.m. shift. And there is a shortage of truck chassis themselves.”

That’s because his plan was intended to fail.

Somebody needs to raise the money in their job offers. If you don’t have enough workers it is likely caused by either being too stingy or too broke.

Trump would have had the “supply chain” humming in a week, if that long.

In my 45 years of performance reviews, not once was I commended for “starting the conversation.” I never realized until just now what crappy bosses I had because none of them recognized that accomplishment.

They are so solved that the wonder woman who solved them is going to Munich to avert WW III.

Yet another thing that the bloated, arrogant, incompetent deep-state bureaucracy can’t and won’t touch

Trump would have banged the heads together of all the corrupt players - from the unions to local politicians, to Fed.gov regulators to the steamship lines - and got them to act.

Potatus knows nothing about supply chains or logistics.

Trump would have had it up and running over a weekend. This is a time when we need business leaders to step up with solutions and not government intervention.

Isn’t this Buttgiger’s responsibility?

He should be fired and the entire DOT shut down and disbanded, along with several other useless and utterly incompetent federal agencies.

Not sure what trump can do now but truckers are getting killed with diesel up over 4. Bidets policy did that. Then they poured bungle amounts of money to stop people from working. Why be an apprentice driver when you can play computer games all day. Note most drivers seem to be in the over 45 age because they had to work. I don’t blame them for not wanting to work grave yard shift. Sadly the end is getting near and there is no savior till 2024 Too late. The only thing we seem not to have a shortage of is career politicians.

West coast shipping ports from Seattle to San Diego have been under the control of communist unions for the last century. Presidents come and go, port “managers” do their thing until they earn a retirement. . but nobody can buck the union thugs who actually run things.

Independent truckers cannot take the blame for what has happened as it’s not within their range of influence. An act of Congress? Unlikely as long as the union-loving Democrats are running all the committees.

Short of an end to Asian imports, there’s no short-term way to clear the backlog.

Maybe Elon Musk will come up with a fix like he did for Dodger Stadium traffic?

I’ve never heard of longshoremen on the west coast being ‘under paid’.

Buttigeig isn’t helping, he’s focused on homosexual activism, not transportation issues.
