Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday vowed not to sign a new congressional map unless lawmakers dismantle a North Florida district represented by a Black Democrat, setting up a showdown with his own party that threatens to upend the state's delicate redistricting process.

You know it’s a hit piece when it takes two or more to write it.
This is why DeSantis makes a better executive than Trump. He knows how to use gov’t to get things done. But he’s not nearly as good of a campaigner as Trump.
Oh all of a sudden the MSM finds something about government to be skeptical about.
Why cant we go back to each county being a single district?
Good point.
What happened to OBEY and COMPLY!
Why cant we go back to each county being a single district?
That would create more than 435 congress critters. Like, over 3100 of them.
We could definitely use existing county lines to define district boundaries. That would eliminate all of this corruption that both parties do every ten years.
It’s not bad to draw maps that favor demoncrats unless dims do it.
New York
Strangely, racial gerrymandering is the only type of gerrymandering that is allowed by the courts.
Corrine Brown's congressional district is my all-time personal favorite.
Ironically, gerrymandering her district was not what sent her to prison.
"So far, redistricting has created 11 more Democratic-leaning seats nationally, three fewer Republican-leaning seats and eight fewer highly competitive seats. This is due to aggressive map-drawing by Democrats in states such as New York as well as court decisions overturning Republican gerrymanders in Ohio and North Carolina."
See? "Aggressive" Democrats good, Republican "gerrymanders" bad.
Wow, I didnt realize there were that many counties. I must be stuck in the 13 colonies days.
“Strangely, racial gerrymandering is the only type of gerrymandering that is allowed by the courts.”
ANY kind of gerrymandering, racial or otherwise, that favors Democrats is always allowed by the courts — try to find even one case in U.S. history where a Rat-created map was thrown out by a court for being too partisan.
Conversely, any plan which a Republican (not a RINO) comes up with is disallowed by the courts without any basis in law whatsoever, like what happened to North Carolina’s initial plan this year.
Speaking of courts, the Florida Supreme Court, where Republicans have a solid majority if I’m not mistaken — the same court full of RINOs which in 2015 derailed last decade’s slightly Republican-favorable plan in Florida for no reason — will almost certainly derail DeSantis’ map too; it’s much bolder than the squishy RINO-created plan from 2011 which was overturned 4 years later.
Opus?
Florida Republicans are not necessarily the same as DC RINOs.
Oh yes...frustrating isn’t it!
If we wanted an actual House of Representatives in America, we should cap the number of citizens each Rep can represent, maybe 50,000 maybe 100,000. We have the technology to make that a reality. An actual House session would fill a football stadium, but it would also destroy the ability of DC to be such a focus point for corruption. It would probably create many additional problems, but at least they would be new problems
DeSantis has been described as “Trump without the tweets.”
He has his Trumpian moments, like when he did a press conference in front of Brandon Motors in Brandon, Florida.
I agree, or at least I think I do. And the shapes should be roughly that of a circle, a square, a rectangle that's, say, no more than twice as long as it is tall, or equilateral triangle maybe.
