MSNBC contributor Donny Deutsch said Thursday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that Ivanka Trump is “very intertwined” with her father, former President Donald Trump’s business which means her “brand” was dead.
Discussing the New York investigation into the Trump organization, Deutsch said, “It’s criminal when he lies on a bank and insurance, where it’s very criminal if you basically go for a loan and you say a property is worth X and they give you money based on that, and at the end of the day, the property by any valuation is worth x minus 50%. The same thing with insurance on the flip side. If you inflate things to get insurance, these are criminal acts that you go to jail for, that anybody would go to jail for. So, it’s these things, it’s either inflating or deflating values of things in order to get appropriate business interactions you want.”

Don’t commercial real estate sales require appraisals as home sales do??
Values are certified by appraisal. They said my house was worth 450,000. I got a loan for 450,000. I don’t think the house is worth that much because I live in it and wouldn’t mind living somewhere else. Still I didn’t determine what the value was, it was the lender deciding if I was creditworthy. They don’t want my house, they want to get paid back. People who watch or listen to MSNBC deserve the miserable lives that they live, and they must have miserable lives to believe anything on MSNBC.
Certainly if the lender has any business sense.

So I can tell them my farm is worth 25 million and they just hand me the money?
I seem to remember that after the last real estate crash it was found that there were inflated loans on property but I also remember that multiple parties were required to get those loans inflated...buyer, seller and the loan company.
Any loan company appraiser that admits he was scammed by a person applying for a loan would expose himself as an incompetent fool. I don’t think this will go very far.

Every commercial building that we’ve ever bought, the bank has required us to have an appraisal done. One time, the bank took so long to work on the loan that they wanted an updated appraisal (since so much time had passed). We reminded them that they were the reason that so much time had passed and they were welcome to pay for their own appraisal. They passed on another appraisal.

The assessor appraises the value of your real estate. The more they appraise it for, the more property tax the city and state can levy on the taxpayer for it. That’s the main reason for appraising real estate values higher than they’re actually worth. Getting a loan on the appraised amount is not only NOT illegal, it’s done routinely all the time.

These people really think that if you go to a bank for a commercial loan for millions of dollars, the bank doesn’t do its own independent (and very thorough) appraisal of the collateral...
